This is a discussion thread titled "prerunner bumper for the tundra", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Has anyone herd of a company called Twisted Tin in huntington beach, CA? I saw a front bumper they made for a guy with a built in skid plate. I have tried calling 411 and looking in the phone book with no luck. I am wanting to get a prerunner type front bumper for my truck and was looking at the fabtech one but they no longer make it. If any one has their phone number or info on any other company making them please let me know.
Below is a link to the site where I saw the Twisted Tin bumper. This tundra is sick.nice tundra
I was looking for the same bumber from fabtech, I found it at truckperformance. I think you can get it in blue, black, or unpainted. I also like the BFG Tundra Truck Front Bumber. Have you seen it.
That BFG bumper looks really nice. But I couldn't seem to find any info on it on their website. Is it made by BFG or some other company? I like the fact that I can keep the lower stock bumper on and still have the prerunner bumper. I don't beleive you can do that with the fabtech one. Also the supports in the bed of the truck look really trick. I finally got in touch with james chen who owns that yellow prerunner tundra and he informed me that twistd tin is no longer in buirness so thats out of the question. The wheels on his truck look really nice anyone seen one like those with the bead lock?
I just got off the phone with Fabtech and it seems that the desert guard(prerunner bumper) listed on truckperformance.com is not going to be available for about 6 months. They haven't even started them into production. It is also going to be the type that you leave the bumper on and is installed throught the opening in the middle. It is not going to have the long skidplate that goes under the car like the others only to the point where the factory one ends. I guess ill be waiting unless I can find something better. By the way what size tires have people been able to fit with the fabtech coil over system on?
swat..
Check out my photos.
To answer your question you can run 285's with the fabtech lift. or a coil spacer such as Revtek..
I get more compliments on my wheels than any other mod..

2 TS members, IFORCEV8 and 2DAMAX, have prerunner style attachments that go onto the stock bumper. Looks really cool. I believe they got it from a place called ORI, or something like that.

I called BF Goodrich and they told me that the prerunner guard was made a company called Pipeworks in California. (I will post the phone number when I get home) Anyway, I called Pipeworks and a guy there said he has the prerunner guards in stock and could ship immediately. The other important info is as follows:
1. The guard is a straight bolt on to the toe hook location - no drilling
2. You cannot keep the toe hooks
3. It cost $ 600.00 plus shipping
4. It is one piece.
5. All welds are ground and then the guard is bead blasted for a smooth quality finish.
6. Guard is covered with a black high quality powder coat paint finish.
This guard looks great and you don't have to modify your tundra by drilling to put it on, however it is a little pricy. Just thought you guys might like this info.
I spoke to Kevin the owner of ORI(the one 2da-max has) today. I told him I would put up his phone number. I don't know how much he sells them for, but give him a call.

Let him know you saw his number hear and maybe he'll sign up as a vendor.
I have had that bar for 2 years. It took 3 months to get them to ship that thing. The truck freight cost me $430.00, the bar is too large and awkward for UPS. When I finally got the bar it didn't fit. The light tabs hit the bumper before the whole unit was upright. They had welded the mounting tabs too far forward. I had to cut the light tabs in half and drill new holes, barely enough room for a hole, and I had to elongate the holes in the mounting tabs so that the bar could slide forward allowing it to swing upward so that the mounting tabs were sitting flat up against the frame. F---ing nightmare. I also found that the bar wobbles and shudders up and down with its own weight. The small mounts can't isolate the weight of the bar, so I had to make some brackets out of aluminum L-stock and drilled two holes through them. The horizontal hole I bolted to the bumper with a custom rubber gasket between the bumper and the bracket. The vertical hole I matched up with the light tab hole and bolted my 10 inch Hellas through both. This really tightened things up. I live on an island so I had to pay the local shipper to bring it over from Cape Cod and that cost me $260.00. I paid $550 for the bar, raw ( not powder coated), and $690.00 for shipping. For a bar that did not fit!!! Frank or whatever the owners name is, swore I was crazy telling him the bar did not fit. " It is impossible, these are welded in jigs!" Well Cheech one of your boyz was smokin' too much green the day they built my bar!!! After all of the bulls--t, the bar is tough. It is one of a kind and I know no one around the Cape and the Islands has this bar, yet. I have a custom, "chin-style" aluminum skid plate under the bar with stainless allen heads. It turns heads. Was it worth the pain? If you are as obsessed with individuality as I am YES! If you guys go for it do not let him send it COD because Yellow Freight charges $50 for COD. I was happy to have COD because I canceled my check when the bar did not fit. Check it out thouroughly, hopefully by now he has corrected his screw ups. Good Luck!
