Default Tacoma is not HiLux
Toyota compact pickups in US prior to 1995 are HiLuxes which are still marketed globally.

These trucks were available in different heavy duty versions: 1 ton SRW or DRW. Toyota defeated Nissan in U-Haul contract on compact DRW pickup based cube truck.

1995+ compact pickups (Tacomas) are light duty. There's no high payload model.

Compact pickups see more abuse in third world/developing countries than in US.
