Default 05 Door Scuff Plate removal

As the headline says, how do you remove the door scuff plate? The front I can unlatch the back part but its on really tight and cant really get under it to pry it off. Any ideas how to get it out safely without cracking?

If you are talking about the black plates on the door sill then I would say get a hairdrier and heat them up. They are held in place with double-sided tape.

No, i dont want to get rid of them, i was installing door sill protectors and in its instructions it said remove the door scuff plate to install them. I figured it out eventually, i just ended up unhooking the rear then just pulling with some force.

I would strongly advise you to leave them on there. The black door sill protectors are no different then the ones you want to put on really. The main problem is that the factory ones are put on using an adhesion promotor which does wonders to the paint underneath. I wouldn't touch it. You might not like what it looks like underneath.

No no, I was talking about the grey plastic pieces. To install the protectors, gotta remove them or atleast pry them up so a portion of the sill protector goes underneath, its like 2-3 mm or so but it keeps it from hanging off the side. But yah I do know what your talking about with the adhesion promotor & paint.

Hey LTech....strangely,my Taco came with the black sill protectors already installed. As for the grey ones, my misunderstanding...I know what you are talking about now, just in case you didn't get them off yet...they simply snap into place, just gently pry with your hands on them and they will pop off...start close to the seat mount on the front, grab on the side closest to the seat, I had mine off already for something.
