Default How are the Power window mounted in 2004 DC???

The snow and ice the other day brought to mind something I have been wondering....for those of you who have had their door panels off, how is the window attached to the power window mount/rail....does the glass sit "glued" into U-channels like my old Merc Cougar and Blazer or are there posts that actually bolt through the glass??? Just curious to how careful I must be to clear ALL ice to window sill before attempted opening...I made that mistake with the Cougar with its U-channel glued windows and had to drive 1 hr with the window down in 20°F weather!!!

ThomasE may have some regrets.

On my extended cab (I would guess the DC is the same way), the front window class has 2 plastic "clips" permanently bonded with some kind of adhesive at the bottom of the glass. Imbedded in the plastic is a nut. So the glass sits on the window track, 2 bolts go through holes in the track into the nuts. I don't recall that the bolts go through the glass or that the glass even has 2 holes in it.

That said, I don't see how it would be possible for the plastic clips to detach from the glass without the glass itself breaking. The adhesive attaching the clips to the glass was black and hard like an epoxy.

There are bolts that connect the glass to the power window regulator. ThomasE describes it very well.

My 2000 has had its windows opened many times before I really thought about what I was doing. So far so good, even when there is a pretty loud noise from the window breaking loose from the seal and so far so good

Thanks for the info. Well, believe me the epoxy can break loose without breaking the window...it did in my old merc cougar because you are applying a sheer force tangent to the bond between the window and the clip and thus there is little force in the "z" direction only in the "x" "y" direction.
