do you think that someone will make a flush mounted mesh grill for the 03 instead of it being resessed? Kind of like the grillcraft 01-02 tundra grill.

One of the guy's here (Rapco?) made one, and I think Street Scenes does make one also.
I'm not crazy about the SS. It's the standard expanded aluminum you can buy at Home Depot, and it curves into the stock opening at it's edges. You still have to cut the crosspieces out, so I suspect you'd also have issues with the hood release. I like the billet look better than what I've seen of flush mesh for '03/'04.
Mine is recessed, and is a perfectly flat piece with the openings stamped/cut. It bolts right on with no modification to either the truck or the grille and keeps the stock hood release. It completely replaces the stock grille, so it can be transferred to a different truck later. When I trade mine in, the stock grille is going back on and this grille is going on ebay.

Hey Rlockyer is your grill the same grill that Verndog was talking about earlier in this thread? If not where did you get yours and how much did you pay for it?

Yup. Same one, same source, same price.
The one shown is for the standard truck, but they also make them for the DC.

When you cut the crossbars out for an insert, do you have to 'finish' the cut with paint, etc; or does the insert pretty well cover up the damage?

After cutting, no repair or touch-up was necessary for mine -- the billet grill sits flush to the front and is almost completly in front of all the cut-outs. The cut-out areas can only be seen from close up, and only if you know what you're looking for. Of course, I did manage to nick a painted area with the grinder . . . but the grill just about covers that too.

Default Stupid question on the billet grills

Hey guys,

I have seen pics on here of the billet grills and think they look great. Here is the dumb question (without seeing one in person)....how do you get to the latch to open your hood?

My Stull grill has the mount nearly identical to stock. Opening the hood is same as with the factory grill.

I have Trenz Billet Grill. On mine I had to cut out plastic piece with exception of latch and place new insert in shell....

I have a Stull billet grill, but not like zombie's. Mine looks like this. . .
http://www.stullindustries.com/displaypicture.asp?4308

I have not yet rigged a mount, so for now the 6" extension that connects the actual latch to the lever that you would normally grab just hangs there. When I pop the hood, I have to reach under the grill and find the lever, then pull. It's not a great system . . but I have not yet figured an "invisible" mounting method for the lever.

The one I have:
http://www.mrtoyotaparts.com/partdet...p?PartID=83781

The web site is owned by Dallas Toyota, and the grille is made for them by FMS in Cerritos, CA.
You can either order on their web site, or call Dallas Toyota and ask for Parts>Internet Sales>Barbara King

Here's something I did to dress up the lower grill without having to take the bumpers apart and spending a bunch of $$.

http://www.tundrasolutions.com/photo...8156&nocache=1

Hope the pic link works.

Anyway, I just removed the license plate, and applied 2" aluminum tape across the lower grill twice, over lapping in the middle. Rubbed it onto the surfaces of the originally black grill to make sure it would stick good. Then, took a sharp Exacto knife and cut out the open spaces of the grill. Leaving the the grill looking like it was chromed. Up real close you can tell, but 5 ft or more, you can't tell.
Been on now for about a month, with none of it coming lose.
