Just looking on ebay for window vent visors and noticed the two varieties. I've not had these before and wonder what recommendations people have. It looks like the in-channel ones are pretty nice - anyone have them?

I got 6the stick type! Two driving factors for my choice. With the stick on tape ones you can get a set of 4 that match! (all four mounted the same) Most of the truck accessory places here say that they see considerably more problems with the in-channel ones than the tape type. Personally I was really leaning twards the in-channel but when I realized the rear would be without or of a different type I opted for the 4 pack off of ebay!

Just got the "WADE" in channel vents for my 2004 Tundra DC and they come as a set of 4 that all match and work great....I had stick ons in my 1996 Blazer and they were OK but I always worried about them peeling/falling off....had them for about 5 yrs with now problems but I like the look of the in channel ones now...I'd go with WADE in channel vents...they seem to be darker smoke and a little more substantial/thicker than some other flimsy varieties I have seen...just my thoughts!

Have you noticed any difference in wind noise? That would be a serious deterrent for me. And thanks everyone, for your input.
On my 95 Toy Pickup I had "Ventshade" stick-ons. On my 02 Ford Explorer, I installed "Weathertech" in-channel. I had both vehicles at the same time and never noticed any difference in wind noise & believe me, I did alot of driving, both highway and city. I mean you will hear slight wind noise, but to say one was worst or better than the other, I couldn't significantly tell. Also, I never had a problem with all not matching. I only bought a front set of stick-on for the pickup. I didn't want to stick anything on the paint over the access cab window. Friends who had both front and rear looked the same to me.
The biggest complaint I have heard by those using the in-channel is interference in closing the windows. I didn't experience this in 4 vents I had on my 4D Explorer. Over time, the visor will seat itself nicely in the window channel. As far as the stick-ons, I did have to redo the 3m tape on one side because dirt worked its way underneath the mount point, but 10 years they are still on there.
So, having used both and a purchase planned in the future, I'm buying another set of in-channel. I just prefer the looks of the in-channel over the stick on. Both do functionally work the same imo.
I've had the Macneil Automotive Weathertech in-channel shades installed since 98. At first the windows were a little hard to roll up all the way, but once they 'broke in", the windows work smoothly.. I highly recommend them. You can get sets for the rear windows so they match..
I had both types on my 2001 Tacoma. The In-Channel look better and produce less noise. I don't know why people are saying they produce more noise . I have also never had a pair of in-channel that didn't match front to rear. I think you'd like the in-channel much more, but that's just a perosnal preference.
I've had stickons before but now have the Weathertech (in-channel). I think it looks way better (more streamlined) because it doesn't stand out and look tacked on. I bought a full set of 4 so the rears match.
Yes, it makes the window fit a bit tighter so sometimes the power windows don't go up all the way on the driver's side. But I just push the button again and it closes fully. I think it's dependent on the specific vehicle, because I've had other cars where this was never a problem.
I've had Weathertech's on my Tundra for 2-3 years and there's no wind noise. If you live where there is a lot of dirt and dust, you will have to do a lot of cleaning because wind will blow the grit into the space between the visor and the glass. The result is a lot of scratching and noise as the window is raised or lowered. Also the rattling is worse with the window part way down due to the glass being in contact with the plastic visor rather than weatherstripping. In-channel looks a lot better, but dirt and grit can definitely be a problem.

the only time they make awful scrunching noises is when im in a very sandy, windy area, then i have to use paper towel and clean out the track. if youre in the desert all the time, i'd get tape on, but if it's wet (or moderate) where you live, youll really dig the weathertechs (or similar).
