I am assuming that you are talking about a hard tonneaus cover? If so, I had one put on my '72 chevy from CheckMate (http://www.checkerpro.com) It is a flush mount (has a small lip that sits on top of the bed), fits fine. When you order, they have you measure your bed just to make sure the cover will fit. They also make custom sizes (i think). I used to have pics of the truck posted here before the DB crash. Will try to do it again if that option is still available.
The best that I have seen is SnugLid. But, there are may out there to chose from. I like the way the SnugLid fits and there is no weatherstrip around the edge.
Good Luck!
Alex
I put on a SungLid hard tonneau. I had an ARE brand on my 98' Tacoma but the version for the Tundra fits on top of the sides of the rear bed and would have left the plastic side guards exposed. The SungLid fits down tight and is a very nice looking lid. If you would like e-mail me and I will forward you a photo of this lid.
I did a lot of research and looked at a bunch of alternatives and finally chose an Advance Cover for my 2002 Tundra. It's available at a number of places, but I got mine through K-Covers (see their online site). Installation took about two hours, mostly because I was very careful about measuring, etc. No drilling of the truck bed was needed. I have been through a couple of snowstorms, rain storms and car washes, and no water has gotten past the multiple seals. Cost totaled about $580 ($499 + $80 shipping). I can send a picture if anyone's interested.
SnugLid owners!!!! Who did your install? Did you get the lid at a dealer or did you have it shipped? Does it come color coordinated to your truck color? How hard is it to remove for hauling larger items? And when you remove it what do you do with it to keep it from getting scratched? Overall, are you happy with it?
I went with the A.R.E and had it installed last Monday. As mentioned the A.R.E. doesn’t completely cover the top rail covering of the Tundra and leaves a small strip of the black showing. On my white it is easy to notice but I haven’t decided if it bothers me or not. If it does I will remove the top rail cover the first time I have to remove the lid.
After researching the alternatives, I went with the SnugLid because the quality was superior. I am happy with it. If you get one, decide whether or not you want to remove the Toyota factory black plastic rail moulding before installing the lid. If you leave the moulding on, the lid will still fit, but not as close (Snug!) to the body.
Lab Lover,
If you're looking for a decent cap I have the Leer 100XL on my tundra and it has been superb so far. It fits nice and looks great, I'll post a picture of it on Monday. It also has Yakima rails on top for the racks. I use them to mount my canoe on top.

One and all, I used to rely on past postings of toppers/shells/caps and their pros and cons. Sad to see the site crash...I'm assuming all the info went with it? I'm getting ready to purchase a topper very soon. Enough of the stalling. I'm torn between the Snugtop; the obvious favorite, or an A.R.E. Z series. I'm looking for any input including seal between topper and cab, topper and bed, and overall value. Recent prices would be a bonus. Thanks

Re: SnugLid
Thank you for your reply. I just ordered one today. $850 installed, takes about 2 to 5 weeks to get color coded to my truck (Thunder Gray).
As Caps go, I looked at quite a few and the SnugTop highliner is the way I went. The fit is perfect with the sides of the shell flowing along the tundra cab to the shell. The highliner's side windows are large and follow the side of the cab window size. I went with the boot, have you driven with three layers of glass behind you at night? The boot fits exactly around the window frame and doesn't even touch the paint (no boot kit needed). I have a smaller toyota PU with a shell with the two locking side handles, and talk about a pain, go with the center locking handle and you can lock and unlock it from the inside.
I am looking into a shell for my 2002 Tundra. I am only debating between the leer 100xl and the snugtop SuperSport or EXPO. Does anyone have any pictures or suggestions? I am trying to get the most form fitting shell I can.
Thanks
GT Gemtop Classic super low profile (looks like a flush top but isn't. Sits on top of the bed rails but does not curve over the edge. Locks tailgate and tonneau in one step. Triple laminated fiberglass on steel shell. Color matched. 5-year paint warranty lifetime structure warranty. better paint warranty than the truck has.
