Default fender flares vs chrome wheel arch moldings

I recently bought a 2002 Tundra SR5 V6 with 245/70R16 tires and with nothing on the fenders. Most of the Tundras I've seen with fender flares have 265/70R16 tires. Does anyone know how the fender flares look with the 245/70R16 tires? Should I just add the chrome arch wheel moldings? If so, do you have any idea where I may find a set of four at a reasonable price.

Thanks

Check on ebay. Seen some of the flares and/or chrome arch molding listed there. Matter of fact - I think there are some listed on ebay right now. If my memory serves me, I think the stock flares are go for about $275 used and the molding for about $100 used.

Hey David:

I also have a V6 and chose to get the 4runner 5 spoke wheels with the 265 tires from the dealer when I bought.

Personally I prefer to not have any flairs of any sort, the tires fit just about flush with the outside of the body and give it a good fat tire look.

To me, if you were to put the flairs on your present tires, the tire wheel combo would look small and narrow.

The factory chrome and black mouldings are nice but everybody has them.

Now I am not planning on any offroading and live in SoCal so rain is not a real problem

So there is my opinion.

Chuck

Does any one know what is under the chrome arch moldings? Ive debadged and like the look. Id also like to get rid of the moldings if there isnt going to be holes that need to be filled. Has anyone done this?
Thanks

There are no hole with the chrome arc moldings. Those are held by screws on the underside of the fenders.

9, your truck looks sweet. I was thinking of leaving the chrome flares off and not upgrading to the IS. Without the flash of all that chrome, one can see how clean the lines of the Tundra really are.

It looks like you left the plastic bed rail guards on when installing your shell. I was thinking of removing them prior to installation to keep the truck shell and cab on an even plane. What convinced you to keep them on? Also, how do you like your Leer? It looks really clean.

Thanks

I actually want to remove the plastic bed liner (just haven't gotten around to it yet)...was on there when I bought it. I like the look of the leer shell, hasn't held up too well though. The plastic cracked near the handle, the rubber liner around the windows is peeling off, and just recently I snapped off one of the hinges that opens the window (my fault though).

I and yeah, I know what you mean about the flares...if I didn't already buy the IS flares I would leave it without moldings anyway...looks alot better imo.

When you put the IS flares on did you drill the holes in the fenders or just use the double sisded tape? If you drilled how did you figure out where to put the holes?

Maybe a little late posting a reply. I used to take my wheel arch moldings off every spring to clean and wax under there (they collect alot of dirt). There are only about 6 or 8 screws that hold them on, they face the wheel. Unfortunately they also rub the paint on the body and leave a ghost mark most of the way around. The screws have a 10mm head so you can ratchet them off instead of using a screwdriver.
