Default Droopy rear bumpers

I can't imagine I'm the only one that's noticed how the rear bumper on Tundras droop down when viewed from the side of the truck. I can see how it might make it easier to step up onto the bumper with it this way but I think it looks terrible. It makes the thing look broke! When I first noticed this on my Tundra I thought someone had run into my trucks rear and bent the whole thing downwards.

Well I'm not one to let something like this bug me for long so I decided to take the rear bumper off the truck to see if I could do something to rectify Toyotas shortcoming. Lacking power cutting tools and a welder my options were limited. Despite my lack of these tools I did manage to find a way to modify the bumpers mounting which corrected to my satisfaction the drooping bumper.

The Tundras rear bumper has upper or top bolts ( hiding under the bumper fascia ) and lower bolts holding the bumper on to the bumper bracket. By simply putting three heavy washers under each upper bolt and under the bumper the angle at which the rear bumper sits can be adjusted from a downward profile to a raised one which follows nicely the Tundras lateral line. Very easy fix which makes the side view of a Tundra much more pleasing. There is one problem though if you plan on doing this mod. The lower bumper holes now will no longer align with the mounting holes on the bracket. It is a small problem which is easily overcome. I simply drilled new holes in the lower or underside of the bumper which now line up with the mounting holes and bolted the lower bumper back on. The underside of the bumper is only seen if you stick your head under the bumper so this solution is not readily seen.

Sorry, don't have a digital camera. Hope to have one soon. I'll be sure to post a photo when I do.
