Good info!

I've been eyeing those for awhile since the chrome DeeZee ones are so hard to get. I was hoping to get some feedback on the Aries ones before I committed to getting them.

Well, they look just as good as any Westin, Dee Zee, or Manik I have ever owned. I really like the oval step as well. Makes it easier for the ladies to get in and out.

do they mount to the cab or to the frame? Do you have any pics to share of the installation or installed? I am very interested in these. That's a great deal also, who was the seller (and do they have anymore)?

They mount exactly where all the other step bars for these trucks do (with the exception that you get some of the welded sliders I think) - to the factory holes on the underside of the rockers. Granted, that's not the toughest place for mounting steps, but I'm not relying on them to protect my cab from off-roading either. FWIW, I can stand/bounce on them and they don't give. IMHO, they are mounted pretty sturdy for what I need them for. I knew what to expect when I bought them - looks, protection from road debris, and a little help for the ladies getting in. I got exactly that.

BTW - just because you have welded sliders and they mount to the frame does NOT mean that they will hold up any better in an accident, either on or off road. No matter what the marketing hype, they will all bend when hit hard enough.

The Westin's keep getting pushed out. It's been pushed from Feb, to the first of May, now the end of May... I'm expecting to see a "first of June". I guess I'm going to have to find other means/manuf. Either the Chrome ovals from a SE Toyota dealer, or the Aries, which is being mentioned here. I have family living in NC, which is going to be visiting in a couple of weeks, maybe I could have them bring them when they come to visit.

Very frustrating!

edit: After seeing the pics of JaredPointers Ovals by Aries he put on his truck.. I think I'll go with them. They look really sharp.

Okay, here are some pics. I hosted them on Photobucket, so some of the detail might be lost. If you are really that interested in a certain pic, let me know and I will Email it to you if I keep them long enough. I tried to get all different angles and some of the mounts just so you guys can gets an idea.

I merged two threads regarding oval nerf bars, as they pertained to the same subject matter

I wanted to follow up on this tread, as I have now installed a set of the Aries Ovals on my ext. cab. Easy installation but very limited instructions included, as I mounted the first bracket on wrong side of the truck. They look great and I'm very happy with them.

I did replace the bolts that mount the bracket to the oval step. I replaced them with some stainless bolts and washers. The bolts that mount the bracket to the frame appear to be nickel plated or something. I don't have a way to post pics, but if anyone would like some, please email me and I'll send them to you.
