This is a discussion thread titled "Tacoma: Pass. Air bag shutoff...", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Does everyone have the airbag shut off rig under the heater/ac vent? My tacoma doesnt have one. I'm wondering how the heck to shut off the airbag for the person sitting shot gun.
I'm pretty sure double cabs don't come with the pass. side airbag switch. I think it's only for the regular and access cabs so that a child seat can be installed safely.

DC do not have a shut off switch as anyone small enough to be affected by an air bag should be riding in an approved child seat or booster seat in the back seat. Access cabs do not have a rear seat large enough for the installation of a car seat so they have the shutoff switch to keep little ones from getting hammered by an airbag deployment. I have several friends who are police officers and I've heard the horror stories about improperly installed seats and kids sitting in front with air bags. Not something I want to subject my 2 year old to... Put them in the back and forget about looking for a switch.

I think my truck has that switch, I'm not sure cuz I'm blazed right now. But I'll go out and take a picture of it when I get a chance, becuse I really think it does have the switch to turn the passenger air bag off.
On page 83 of the owners manual it describes how the Front Passenger Occupant Classification System works. It is the same as if the Access Cab switch was put in "auto". In the Double Cab.....everything is automatic.....no switch needed.
