This is a discussion thread titled "Baby Car Seats?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I'm glad that I saw this thread. I may just drop by a dealer with my car seats and ask him to fit them in the tundra AC and DC to see how they fit. It looks like about a 2k difference in price between the AC and DC cabs.
I have 3 small children, including an infant, that i'd like to fit in if I can. otherwise, i'll just get a regular cab.
I took my car seat to the dealer intending to buy the access cab - no chance!
My 7mo. old is still in a rear facing which lays out a bit. But even standing straight up it did not fit. (Britax Roundabout) We got the double cab, longer ride but much better inside for children.
We have '01 Access cab and haven't had a problem placing a Britax Marathon in back. It's positioned in the center behind the console, which allows us to move our seats way back. Actually, positioning the carrier in the center is the safest in the event of a broadside accident.

I can see that working with captain's chairs. Ours is positioned in the middle as well, but we may be adding a brother/sister soon.
I can't imagine having a problem with car seats in a Tundra AC. I thought I was going to have to trade my Tacoma ext cab for a Tundra AC to carry two car seats. But I found I could put two car seats forward facing in the back of my Tacoma and my kids were perfectly happy. A certified inspector approved the installation.

I have two forward facing in my AC. I used to have a rear facing in the center rear and the two forward facing on the sides. I never had a problem.

Out of curiosity, how long do you guys have to keep your kids in car seats? In NC they have to be in at least a booster seat and in the back until they are 8 years old or 80 lbs. An 8 year old in a booster seat in the back of my old AC just didn't seem like too much fun.
I have an 05 AC and I have a car seat behind the passenger seat. I passed on the double cab only because I didn't need it cause we have a Honda Pilot which is one awesome family hauler. And as much as possible, I prefer AC style PU trucks over double cabs anyway as far as looks and practicality. Lighter, more maneuverable, nimble, and easier to drive being as big as it already is. No pun intended on DC style trucks just seems nowadays trucks are used like SUV's which is fine, but some with big fat chrome rims on them, lol. To each his own I guess.... Well I have a 2 year old and a 2 month old, and the Pilot is pretty much a dual baby and dual stroller hauler to say the least. The spare car seat on my Tundra is for my 2 year old when we go out without the baby. If you don't already have a vehilce for hauling the family and don't plan on getting one, by all means, get the DC, cause it would be more practical for your situation. Good luck with the baby.
