Default Passenger seat vibration.

When I had my 2000 Tacoma the front passenger seat would vibrate while I was driving. I tightened all the bolts on the seat and it helped out a little bit.

Now I have an 05 Tundra, thing is quiet as a mouse except for the front seat. When I have a passenger its fine, no noise. But when I have no passenger and its cold out or I'm going on a dirt/gravel road or a bumpy paved road it starts to vibrate. Its really faint and you can barely tell its there, but it stands out because the rest of my truck is so quiet. It annoys me so much that I'll put my arm across the passenger head rest and apply pressure to make it stop.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you make it go away? Tightening the bolts on my Tacoma helped, but didn't make it go away.

You are not alone. My problem was a slight misalignment of the two seat rails - one not fully engaged in the locking notch. Rails were aligned like this: / /, not like this: | |

I was able to fix mine by removing the seat and re-setting the seat adjustment tracks to engage fully - heard a real "click" to put the seat rails in alignment. I accomplished this by literally pullling/pushing on the rails until adjustment tabs fully seated (make sure the rails are both still in the same adjustment notch). Simply re-install seat, problem gone (for me anyways).

Good luck.

Paul

EDIT: Watch out for the electrical connections under the seat - unplug first. Paranoid Paul disconnected the battery first - seat is attached to the air bag system indirectly, didn't want a suprise detonation! END EDIT

Same problems on my Tundra, 4Runner and Taco...

I found if you recline the passenger backrest a little further or (gangsta style) the rattle / vibration goes away.

THats funny though...I used to hang onto the passenger armrest of the TUndra to stop the rattle too!

I've taken to putting my back pack and other gear in the seat to make it stop.
