Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Rear View Mirrors - Other Fits?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
What other vehicles that have the temp, compass and auto dim rear view mirror that will fit the Highlanders? ('01 specifically). Do the '04-05 HL's have them?
Hehe... I think we're asking the same question now. Ultimately, are you trying to figure out if a rear-view mirror from an '04/'05 Highlander will fit up with an '01 model? Or are you asking if the mirror you linked would fit on your model Highlander? Sorry if I have confused you. I don't expect the Highlanders to come with a full-out all-displays mirror from factory - it's something upgradable, I'd imagine.
That's why I asked if you checked online with Toyota to see if they offer an upgradable mirror (one with the functions you are looking for) for the '04/'05 Highlander - if so, and pending a definitive similarity with the '01 mirror and the '04/'05 mirror, you could buy this mirror at Toyota and hook it up.

Okay, this is the mirror on the '05...
It doesn't have the features that I'm looking for as opposed to this one on ebay.
However, the one on ebay shows the fitment as follows:
Quote:
Fits the universal wedge style button that is standard in all GM, Ford and Chrystler plus most foreign vehicle brands built in the USA. An additional universal wedge style is included with the mirror kit. An optional adaptor bracket kit for $11.95 is available for the following vehicles:
Subaru Forester, Subaru Impreza, Subaru Legacy, Subaru Outback, Toyota Echo, Toyota Sequoia, Toyota Tundra, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mitsubishi
Lancer, Honda Accord, Honda CRV, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot,
Suzuki Grand Vitara. The 2002 Honda S2000 cannot use this bracket.
I do not carry the adaptor bracket for 1998-2001 Toyota Land Cruisers.
The following vehicles come from the factory with the Gm/Chrysler mount which this mirror will attatch to with no additional parts needed: 2003 NISSAN ALTIMA, 2001 NISSAN MAXIMA, 2001 NISSAN QUEST, 2001 NISSAN FRONTIER, 2002 MAZDA MPV, 2002 MAZDA TRIBUTE, 2003 TOYOTA 4RUNNER, 2002 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER, 2003 TOYOTA MATRIX, 2001-2002 TOYOTA RAV 4, 2000-2002 TOYOTA CAMRY, 2003 TOYOTA TUNDRA.
I guess my question is, are all Highlanders Rear View Mirrors the same fitment?
And I guess nobody has this Exon mirror eh? Looks pretty nice.
I recently installed the Exon UV/TEMP/Compass mirror on my Toyota Tundra. Wiring it and fishing the wires through the firewall was fairly easy but tapping the wires for power and ignition took awhile. My suggestion; get a Multimeter and it will make the installation go faster. It should take about 3-5 hours depending on how long it takes to fish the wires through from your A-piller down to the firewall and into the engine compartment to the front area of the car. Also a repair manual will aid in searching for where to remove screws, paneling and the headliner.
Oh I forgot the quality of the mirror is as good as that of the popular Gentex brand. On the Tundra the mirror appears small but when I placed my original mirror ontop to compare the width, the Exon mirror was about the same.
UV sensor is a neat feature. It will let you know if you need sun protection and lets you know how long it will take to develop a sunburn. This is all done looking at the meter and then comparing it to the instructions. You'll know at three bars you better be wearing sunblock! 4-5 bars be prepared to burn.
