This is a discussion thread titled "Spray-in Bedliner", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I did a search and I couldn't find what I was looking for. What have been some experiences with spray in bedliners? How much did you pay and are they better than a Toyota factory one? Thanks in advance. I have some pics now!!
I have the toyota factory bedliner in my Tundra and my brother had Line-X sprayed into his Tacoma.
He did the Line-X right when he got the truck new and is a year old now. My bedliner is about 5 years old. The Line-X looked awesome when new. Both liners are tough as nails, and both look pretty blah now after some use.
There are many benefits with the spray-in-liner vs the drop in kind, but I would never go for the Line-X stuff since it is too course for my usage. I need to slide inventory into and out of the bed all the time. The Line-X would just grind down the finish of unpackaged product causing me lost time and money. Ever tried to slide anything into a Line-X bed? Nothing slides on Line-X since it is like sandpaper or grip tape. Plus I like the way the factory bedliner has the ribs which help channel dirt and water. My materials stay cleaner and dryer thanks to the ribs. Your milage may vary, but to each his own. I initially wanted Line-X, but learned that I could never live with it.
I have Line-X in both of my Toyota trucks. It is an outstanding product!
I have some before and after pictures of my T100 that had a factory bed liner - HERE -
You can see how the drop in liner rubbed the paint off to bare metal.
I have no problem sliding items in and out of my bed. As a matter of fact I'm searching for an OEM rubber
bed mat for my Xtra-cab T100 to help keep items from sliding around as a drive the way I do.
I have a thick rubber bed mat in my Tundra (over the Line-X) and this does a good job of preventing items from sliding around.
I'm a big fan of Line-X

Had Line-x sprayed in the bed last spring. Still looks like new. I put my tool boxes on it, camping stuff etc and have had no issues at all. I just go to the car wash & wash it out when it gets dirty & it looks like new again. Good Product!!!

I have Linex in my 2003. It is terrific. Does not chip, looks good. About $600 as I recall.
Also, PM 123gone, he's a Line-X dealer if you have other questions.
He is a dealer but he is truthful in sharing his knowledge! If you ask him what the difference between Line-X and another brand he will tell you the pros and cons of both products under your conditions and let you make the choice! I must say though, I Love my Line-X!!!

Can the Line-X be built up to a max. thickness as can the Rhino? I had Rhino send me a small example of their product.Looked durable enough.Does either brand of the high quality spray in liners turn grey and chaulky looking due to the sun's u.v. rays?Does a spray on liner hurt resale value? Thanks in advance.
First, let me say that EVERYTHING, I'm about to tell you, I've learned from talking with TS.com member (123Gone), who actually IS a LINE-X dealer. Matter of fact, he's probably THE MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE guy on this site, when it come to anything dealing with spray-in bedliners. If you have any further "in-depth" questions after these... I'd send him a PM. He's very willing and eager to help, another TS.com member...
So, that said, I'll try and answer your questions, one at a time... 1st Question

For the most part, LINE-X is sprayed on the bed floor, about 2 inces thick, while the bedwalls are about 1 inch thick. If I'm not quite right on this, I'm sure David (123Gone) will straighten me out, as soon as he sees this thread... In any case, I'm pretty close... I think.
2nd Question

In the past, this was the case for almost every spray-in bedliner across the board. That's why some of the older spray-in bedliners, look a little "chaulky". I honestly cannot speak for Rhino, but I DO know, you can add a UV protectant to LINE-X, at the time of application. It's mixed in with the product. This will also "add" to the cost of the job, but I honestly can't remember exactly what (123Gone) told me, that the additional cost was. However, you CAN actually, protect and keep a new LINE-X bedliner looking good as new, even if you choose "not" to have the UV protectant added. Here's a quote from 123Gone (in a PM which he sent me) after I PM'ed him, to let him know, I had just had my new DC sprayed...

After 3 or 4 months, apply either 303 Aerospace or Just Once (www.justonce.com) on the liner. These products are non-slip UV protectorants. They will keep the liner looking good as new. Apply either product 3 or 4 times a year when convenient. Do not use ArmorAll or any other silicone or oil based products.

You can get Line-X sprayed in without the texture. When it is cold, items will slide aroung easier than when warm.
I'm very happy with my Line-X. I had it applied a few days after I bought my truck. That was 3 years ago. Since then I've hauled dirt, rocks, bricks, wood, furniture, gravel, stumps etc..I've spilled oil and gasoline all over which sat on there for some time. It has held up to it all and still looks just fine.
Even if it does get damaged it has a lifetime warranty & can be easily repaired. I paid around $390 for mine if I remember correctly. Good luck with your decision.
