This is a discussion thread titled "TACOMA: 05 tubes or running boards", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Which ones should I get for my silver d/c longbed tacoma? I am looking at protecting the paint so it doesn't chip like the rest of the 05 tacomas. I like the tubes but they are expensive and am not sure if they will protect as good as the running boards.
The best price I have so far on the tubes is $342.38 without shipping or the running boards at 269.25 without shipping if you guys find a better price let me know.
So give me you imput.
Thanks

I ordered Running Boards for my 05 Tacoma D/C L/B for the same reasons you stated. I ordered mine from: Toyota Parts People Their price was higher $278.40, but their shipping (to Maine) was only $16.95. Total $295.35.
I believe your price is from: Toyota Part Their price is as you quote $269.25, but their shipping (to Maine) was $46.95. Total 316.20.
I ordered mine last Tuesday, they are due here tomorrow.
Good Luck!!!

I got the tubes. They aren't a big help to my wife for entry/exit but the look great. They do extend far enough that car doors will hit them before my door and offer protection from road debris kicked up by the front tires. Mine are 3" polished stainless steel which are better than chrome up here because of the road salt. I paid $269+ shipping from a guy off ebay. I just checked and I don't see him listing them currently, but he might still have some in stock. His ebay ID was bestlesstruck and he's ships out of Arizona.
I've been trying to locate a set of the oval Dee Zee {OME} type of chrome nerf bars. All I can fine is the silver painted ones, anyone know a source to purchase these?

I have the Dee Zee but they're not chrome....brushed aluminum or something. They look good waxed, though.

print out the price from the lowest source you can find...
then take it to your dealer, and avoid paying the shipping fee.
If you bought the vehicle there, they will probably match the online price.
Ask you salesman to help if the parts department doesn't cooperate.
worked for me: running boards, bike rack, bed mat, d-rings, etc.
They are TechTubes. I was waiting for a supplier I was dealing with to get the Westin Stainless but he never got back to me on them. Plus he said they would end up being more $$$ than the chrome which were $280+shipping. Once I saw the Stainless TechTubes for sale , I figured I'd get my tubesteps sooner and save some $$$.
Here is a pic of my Silver Tacoma with Running Boards in case you are interested in seeing another aspect of how they look. I think both the tubes and the boards look great, although I really like the way the black offsets the Silver with the Running Boards.

I went with the tube steps today should get them in a couple of days hope they are easy to put on.
Thanks Croussel for the advice I got them for the same price as the internet ones at toyotapartspeople.com and didn't have to pay shipping.
Wow maybe I should change my mine I like how the black running boards look against silver oh well I will stick with what I ordered.

I'll be moving this thread sometime next week, into the Aftermarket Accessories Forum as I think, this forum will allow for MUCH better exposure for "aftermarket" running boards, over the entire TS.com community.
for your understanding... .

I got them through my local dealer in Massachusetts. They didn't even have to order them -- had them in stock (I was shocked ). If you are having problems locating them, perhaps my dealer could ship them to you. PM me if you are interested in specific info or if you want me to talk to my dealer for you.
