Default tundra measurement

Could someone please measure the width of their Tundra. I've looked on several sites and get different measurements. Obviously some are measuring outside mirror to outside mirror, etc but don't state the source of their measurement. So if you could please give me the width and where the measurement was taken, also if you have the fenderwell moldings and if it is 4x4. Thanks!

Hey cc101

I just measured my 2002 and the width of the body only which is at the outside of the wheel well bubbles is about 73" without any mouldings (I don't have any). The stock moldings only stick out about 1/2" and the opptional flairs are about 3".

The mirrors are actually the widest point at about 87" in the fully out position and about 77" in the retracted position.

Chuck

Default "flairs"

When you say "flairs", are these the moldings that come with the Limited package? By the way, thanks for the measurements! and when you say they stick out 3 inches, is that 3 inches per side?

The 3" stick out on the flairs is per side.

I'm not sure what comes on the LTD but I believe that the chrome and black trim moldings that you see on all of the V8s is the standard and the painted to match flairs are options.

You betcha.

I take it you are considering getting a Tundra, if so I would recommend it and also staying in touch with this site.

It has been a big help to me and also the people are great in person.

If you can attend any of the events you will have a good time.

What area do you live in?

I live in Georgia. I just bought a Tacoma doublecab and am considering trading it for a Tundra. The Tacoma rides a little rough and the sheetmetal doesn't seem too strong. I agree with you about this forum. The people are great and there is loads of information.

I bought the Tundra for the reasons that you have stated.

The back seat in the tundra is not as roomy as the Taco but it is not bad for 'every once in a while' use. The back is too straight up but that can also be fixed (see article in other sections).

I have the V6 and am pretty pleased with the performance but I am not a lead foot and will not go offroad like many of the other members.

Tundra will have a double cap in about a year and also has a really cool looking step side access cap comming out in 2003.

Check'em out.
