Here's my dilema. Got a hole in my ac condenser. Unknown how. Replaced it with a new one. What is the next step I should take. SHould I pay to have the system evacuated and filled? Or can I just fill it with the one line in type refill kits?

You definitely need to have it evacuated to get any air and moisture out of the closed system. If you do not it will run very high pressures (especially with R134A) and not work properly. The higher pressure could damage your compressor and result in much higher costs. Better to have a professional with the proper equipment to the work. A layman can add refrigerant in a pinch to top off a charge but only if the charging hoses are purged of air and other non-condensibles so they're not induced into the closed cooling system.
I did industrial/commercial refrigeration for a living some years back so I'm familiar with a/c systems.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????

Yeah... so I had to have my AC condenser replaced today because there was a hole in it... not too cool.
