I got a Toyota Tundra Doublecab SR5 in February, and it's a great truck. I like everything about it, except the bumper is plastic, and to mount a license plate on it (like i like to do) I would have to drill through paint. I'm really not too crazy about doing that. Is there any way I can get around this and mount a plate up front?
There have been similar threads in the past. I'm not sure there is any way around it. One person was putting a different bumper on with a plate mount, but there simply isn't alot of anything to mount to in the front end, except that bumper.
I finally bought a universal mounting kit from AutoZone. It is nothing more than a plastic "plate-sized" bracket that screws into the bumber. It does keep the metal plate from contacting the paint though.

I set up negotiations to buy my Toyota Tundra AC SR5 before it arrived in the dealership, so it did not have license plates on it when I showed up to test drive it and eventually buy it. I myself could not bare to drill holes into the plastic front bumper either. My solution: didn't come with one, don't put one on. I have been driving for 2 1/2 years without a front plate and it has never been an issue. Plus it looks cleaner without a plate

I couldn't bring myself to drill holes in my bumper either. Most states require by law that you have a front plate, like Iowa where I live, but I have not been stopped for it. I did a search on the web some months ago and found a list of the states that require both plates and the ones that don't. I guess I'm taking my chances. If I get cited for it I'll have to conform. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I just dont run mine, if they do decide to pull you over its just a fix-it ticket and you could get creative with some double sided tape and take it off after you get it signed off.
