Default Grill guard question (about fit).

I have an opportunity to purchase a used grill guard and I need to know if it will fit my truck. The guy said he took it off of a Tundra that had been wrecked in the rear end and that the grill guard was undammaged, but he did not know what year the Tundra was. My Tundra is an '03. Would the year of the truck matter with a grill guard, since it was a Tundra? I am going to try and attach a picture of the grill guard.

No it should fit with no problem on all model tundras but what kind of bumper do you have? isn't plastic right? If its plastic is there anyway you could post some pics of what it'll look like? That'll be great....

Default Nope...

Nope, it's actually a chrome bumber on my Tundra. I haven't done any modifications to it. The guy is asking $100 for the grill guard. Is that an OK price for a used grill guard?

Since you are in Tyler too, I don't suppose you want to help me put it on...

well Todd ,
thats even better if you have a chrome bumper it'll look better that way....well for that kind grill guards they run around between $400-$600 bucks unless you'll find a cheaper one on ebay but who wants to wait for one to be posted on ebay....And Plus $100 dollars is a real good darn deal just make sure you inspect it for any damages or major rust spots....

you live in Tyler thats cool!!!...I've helped put my father in laws black grill guard on in 2001 and he had all the tools so there were no problems but it does take 2 to 3 people to put it on..

I gotta run to work talk to you tomorrow...

Robert

That can't be right, 03 models have a plastic bumper cover. Anyways, you should take a look at maniks, theirs hug closer to the front than the straight/upright one you posted a pic of. I've had 2 maniks on my tundra and if it weren't for my IS kit, I'd keep it too. IMO the mainks looks the best because it more aerodynamic and flows with the trucks curves. Either way, at that price it's a steal.

Default Idiot...

I'm such an idiot! Of course its a plastic bumper. I don't know where my mind was yesterday when I posted that. I guess I was thinking of the rear bumper.

So, what I gather is that this grill guard should fit my 2003 Tundra, regardless of the year model of the Tundra it came off of right? And, $100 would be a good price for it, assuming there is no major rust?

Yep it would fit and that's a real good deal. How many attachment point is it? The manik I had has 4 points for attachment, on the bottom of the frame on each side and through the bumper opening on each side, for a more sturdy mount.
Oh, make sure it comes with the frame brackets to mount the guard onto, cuz I don't see it on the pic there.

I have the same story. I bought a used grille guard from ebay. The seller told me it came from a 2002 tundra. He sold it for 120.00. THe problem is .....I don't have the frame mounting bracket. Is there a particular place that I can special order these brackets?

You can try to order the brackets from the manufacture of your grille guard or fabricate new ones yourself. The brackets mount to the frame where the tow hook is. You'll be using the oe bolts that is already on the frame. It's weird that both side on the frame has bolts on them but only one tow hook on one side.
