Default 3RD Brake Light Removal Please Help

Has anybody taken out the 3rd brake light assembly on an 05 tacoma to install satellite radio antenna wire? The gasket around the light is glued to the truck pretty good. Anybody had expierience removing the gasket without destroying it? I tried heating it up to loosen glue but no luck. Thanks for any info..

Default I Finally Got the 3rd Brake light to come off!

I just wasn't using enough heat. The 3rd brake light assembly and the gasket came off with using a hairdryer on high heat. Then I worked it off slowly so I Could re-use the gasket and re-mount the light. I also used a little of exterior clear silicone around the satellite antenna wire and top of the gasket.

I noticed that it says in the owner's manual to take it to your Toyota dealer in case you need to replace a bulb in the CHMSL, now I know why. So just the two torx screws and then heat up the gasket to remove the cover?

Default Yup!

Yes sir it will peel off if you heat it up enough with a hairdryer. I also used a small metal putty knife to pull gasket back while pulling on light asembly slowly nice and carefully
