Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Help: Interior Problems", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I wanted to find out if anyone out there can give me some advice. I have a 2004 Tundra SR5 Access Cab V8 (my second one since purchasing one in '99) and started to experience some interior issues that I didn't have before. I've listed them in the order of annoyance. Any advice would be appreciated.
1) Back window makes noise when going over uneven surfaces. The sound is just like seal breaking. It sounds like the seal for the back window is not tight and when the chasis flexes, it makes noises that mimic rubber seal breaking. The noise is getting louder everyday. I took it to the dealer three times but they kept saying they can't reproduce it. I'm planning to have a technician ride with me but wanted to find out if others have experienced the same problem
2) Play in steering wheel. Does anyone have this? I don't remember having it with my 2000 version. Whether the car is running or not, if you grab the steering wheel with both hands and gently rock it back and forth (towards and away from you), there's definite play in the wheel. I'm certain it's not from the suspension but the actual steering assembly.
3) Left front seatbel extender noise. When driving, there is an annoying noise that comes from the seat extender above my shoulder. I had the unit replaced, but the new one makes even more noise! I personally unbolted it, but couldn't figure out what the problem is. Pretty annoying since it's right next to my ear.
Otherwise, this is another great truck. Everything would be perfect if I could resolve these issues.

On #1 and #3, I'd say to, definately, have your dealer look at those...shouldn't be doing that.
#2....Does your Tundra have the tilt/telescoping steering wheel? If so, ensure you have it locked underneath. (If you don't, then lump it in with #1 and #3!)
