Default Turtle Wax Color Cure

Has anyone used this? Is this something that I can safely use in someone's opinion? I don't want to screw up the truck's finish but I have some scratches that I would like to buff out. I normally use Meguiar's wax on my vehicles but not sure whether they have anything like this and wanted to know other people's experiences. Thanks.

Default Color Cure- Not worth it

I tried the Color Cure on my black 2001 SR5 and I don't think it made much of a difference. From what I have heard going with a Meguiar's polish/wax combo will get better results.

Over on Autopia, the detailing forumn, Autopia the consensus is that there are thousands of shades of paint used by the manufacturer but TW makes only so many "color waxes" so what are the chances that you'll get a good match to your paint. Now what needs to be done depends on the scratches. If the scratches are deep, then no amount of buffing is going to make difference. If you have swirl marks, there are a lot of products that will help. Check out autopia, there are some real detailing fanatics there with tons of information. Good luck getting them out...

If you don't want to screw up your trucks finish, don't use anything abbrasive, like those Swirl Mark Removers. Since you are a beginner, I wouldn't recommend you taking stuff off. Try 3M's Imperial Hand Glaze, it fills scratches like nothing I've ever seen. Too bad that only last a few car washes. If you want to permanetly fill scratchs. Try the Zaino system. Z1 + z5, for filling scratches works extremly well, given you don't put in anymore swirls with your washing technique.

Ok, sounds like I'll check out that Autopia to see what advice they have. The scratches that I have range from very thin minor stuff (around the keylocks) to fairly wide and deep (couple on the tailgate near the bottom and one or two on the doors. They are nothing that is driving me crazy but I went to an amusement park recently and saw a truck identical to mine with no scratches and a nice waxjob. I bought this truck used and the guy who had it before me either worked with it quite a bit or was a bit of a klutz.

If there is any advice you can give on using touch-up paint first to maybe fill in the wider, deeper scratches and then applying wax later I would love to hear it. I've always used Meguiar's Cleaner Wax but haven't waxed this truck yet.

My wife sometimes uses it on some vehicles at a detailing place she works PT at. It works OK on some colors, but wears off fast. The best way to eliminate swirls, minor scratches is to buff out the finish with 3M Swirl Mark Remover (they make 2 versions, 1 for light colored vehicles and another for dark). 3M Imperial Hand Glaze can be used to hide small swirls and some scratches, but you need to top it with a coat of wax. Again the 3M IHG approach will only last as long as the wax coat exists.
