Default Badge Modification

OK, I was dead set against removing my badges. Then I lost the grill badges by installing a billet grill. Then I got bored and took off the door badges. Next came removing toyota and leaving Tundra on the tailgate. Didn't like the Tundra over to the right so removed it and reinstalled to the left so it balances the iForce V8. Now last weekend I got bored again and reinstalled the door badges modified to just Tundra.

I will not remove my Limited badges (paid over 30K for them) and I think Tundra looks just right on the doors and gate. No badges on the front billet grill.

Here are the pictures;

The usual answer is to heat them with a heat gun or hair dryer and use fishing line or kite string with a sawing action behind the badge and then peal off the tape residue with your thumbnail after the badge is off. A much quicker method is to spray the badge with Meguiars Quick Detailer spray (about $5 at Pep Boys) and then use the string, heat is optional but not needed.

TRD 4WD chrome tailgate badge! I had to have my whole truck repainted (sad story) and they provided me with the old badges, I didn't have them put the new ones on but I have them and wanted to do something different. I broke up the TUNDRA letters, one was cracked in two when they removed them and now I have TRD 4WD to put on my tailgate. Haven't figured out if I just want my tailgate to have TRD on the left and 4WD on the right or TUNDRA (with the toyota removed) on the left and TRD 4WD on the right.

5 speed;

Do what you think you may like then change it if you decide you want to try the other way. An hour saturday morning is all it takes to remove a badge, modify it and reinstall it. Getting the back of the badge clean is the toughest part. My first attempt to remove the door badges I tweaked the word Tundra on one door so reinstalling it the T at the front and the A at the end are separate and a little more dificult to reinstall to look right. No big deal, just takes a more time and if I really can't stand it I can purchase another badge from my dealer.

Is the TRW a plastic badge like the ToyotaTundra badge? Of so I may look around for one and try that somewhere on the truck.

I don't think you understood what I did. I took the Door toyota TUNDRA logo off and cut up the letters and used the T the R and the D for Toyota Racing Development along with the 4WD on the tailgate to make it TRD 4WD all the same type of letters. Here is the letters sitting on my scanner before cleaning up the edges and mounting. Check out the attachment.

Ohh, now I understand. Nice idea. I'm not ready yet to cut up my badges more than they already are. I was hoping that there was a Toyota made TRD badge that matched for size the reqular badges. When you get them mounted post a picture. You may convince me yet.

Cool

There is a TRD badge...I have one (oops...I thought they came in pairs, I am stupid ), it's very nice with raised letters (less raised than OEM badges), they are clear with a silver backing, and the red and chevron precedes the TRD logo. I think I got it from toyotaguys.com...

Guess I better order another one !

I've debadged everything except those TRD stickers (they are a pain to remove), and I'm going to replace the SR5 on the access doors with the TRD badges, once I have painted the backside of the letters black...
