Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Side Moulding Idea", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I've been reading here about removing the side moulding and having holes to deal with. How many are there? Are they the same size (and astromical number) as the bed rail caps?
I'm thinking seriously about pulling the side mouldings off and filling the holes and having the rocker panels covered in Line-X all the way up to and including the holes. My only concerns at the is point are dealing with door dings from other people in parking lots (those mouldings do stop them) and how many holes I'm going to have to fill when I take off the moulding. I'm also toying with the idea of having Line-X door edges sprayed on.
The Line-X dealer I spoke with said that you can't use bondo to cover the holes because the inside of the door gets wet and the bondo will absorb moisture. Now, I'm curious how many holes there really are behind those things.
I talked to a second Line-X dealer who's done a few trucks for me. He said they have a slow-set product that they fill holes will and spray the normal liner over it. He said they do it all the time but their prices start at $700 for rocker panels.
