Default Correct sunroof size

I have been following the sunroof comments with interest. The manufacturer of the Stratos sunroof (WebastoHollandia of America) says the Stratos 749 is the correct model to install in a Tundra. Local ( Northern Virginia) installer, who has been in business for 56 years and does about 90% dealer new vehicle installs, says the Stratos 744 is better to install in a Tundra and says that an ASC 840 is by far the best for my Tundra. He says the 749 will fit but it will leave the cab roof structurally unsound (not exact quote).

The Stratos and the ASC are priced the same and and the installer warranties both for as long as you own the vehicle. He says that if he installs the 749 I am bound to have problems and since he stands behind his warranty he does not want to install it. I have talked with another local installer of Stratos models and he has no trouble installing the 749. However, he doesn't have the reputation the other installer has. Any advice would be greately appreciated.

Dave

Default What size is right?

I had to make that decision when I recently had my sunroof installed. The Stratos 749 is 39.25" in width for the glass and the 744 is at 35.25". Wider is not always better IMO. You get more
opening with the 749 model, but, I think the 744 is more "proportioned" to the Tundra cab and looks like it belongs there. The manual I checked with the installer, BTW, says the 744
is the preferred model for the Tundra. I guess it depends who you talk to . Good Luck with your decison. Not sure if you checked photos yet, but there are pics in the "body & paint" photo section for reference, and I have pics in my homepage.

Default sunroor

Probably between $900 to $1100 depending on location. Look up in yellow pages under "Automobile-Sunroof".

Go to http://www.mysunroof.com . There you can find info about the Webasto/ Holandia sunroofs and they have lists of installers in various areas. ASC may have a web site but I am not familier with it.
Good luck
Let the sun in
