Scratched Plastic Step pad on rear bumper

The idiot grounds crew at work scraped the rear bumper's plastic step pad on my '05 AC (only 2700 mi too!!!) and put a pretty decent scratch in the plastic. Not really deep but a pretty good scrape non-the-less.

Any suggestions on how to get it to not show or how to get it out?

some unknown idiot dented the chrome on the rear bumper - not
sure if it can be 'hammered' out without damaging the chrome

You're out of luck on the textured step pad. You might call a few junk yards and see what they can locate. Pounding out a chrome dent can be done if the dent is small. If you have a bodyman's hammer and a rubber mallet, you can work them out since the bumper metal is fairly thin. The rubber mallet goes on the chrome side while you tap on the inside. If its a large dent, the chrome will usually crack and lead to rust.
