This is a discussion thread titled "TACOMA:High Pitch Sound from Dash", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have had my Taco since Nov. last year and have been very happy with it.
Yesterday I had an opportunity to do a long distance freeway run, so I decided to see how far I can push it. Guys, I tell you, even at 100mph, this baby is smooth. Here's my problem though. Once I go past 90mph, a weird high pitch kind of sound came from the dash area.I though it was my GPS unit interfering with the radio so I turned both off.Sill same thing. Then I thought it may be the air comming through the vent blades(they were all closed). I opened them. Yet the noise remained.Anyone else experience this.

Sometimes it can be the stupidist thing , Maybe the antenna ?
I know dodge has a cover on theirs because it wistles , Do a test ,
Take off you antenna and haul *** , see if you hear it ?
Working at the dealership Ive seen some funny stuff , We had a truck sent
down to us for a whistleing noise no less , that sounded like it was coming from the dash , And I kid you not it was the taillight whistling because it was not clipped in all the way ! we spent about a day and a half finding it.
Id definately try the tape around the windshield trick like mentioned in the other thread .

I've heard the high pitch sound several times before. It only happens when I'm driving on the freeway and it's very windy. One time it was so windy I was hearing the sound at 75mph. I think it's a problem with all 05 tacomas. I guess most 05 tacoma owners haven't driven their trucks under the same conditions that's why we haven't been hearing very many complaints about it.

I was the original poster in the thread mentioned above. Does everyone agree it sounds like a kid letting the air out of a balloon by pulling the hole out to make that really high pitched whistle? The worst part is that the dealer isn't interested in dealing with it because it doesn't do it unless you are breaking the law or it's really windy at a "legal" speed which is hard to get around here.

As mentioned in the other thread... when you're going down the road and the noise starts press on the windshield just left of the mirror and at the same level across and see if the pitch of the niose changes.... If so I don't think it can be anything but the windshield.
I don't always come here every day so email me at paul@cfwebmasters.com if anyone wants to try to get their dealers to address this. IE we keep up with each others problem...

My Tacoma 05 has the same noise as in your description around 80 miles/hr on freeway. The high pitched noise came up intermittently, very annoying. If there is a solution, please let me know.
Thank you in advance
