This is a discussion thread titled "Bsm", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Anybody have their BSM painted to match the truck color and if so was the chrome strip also painted or left chrome? Any special paint or prep work? Took off the part on the bed which helped but still can't stand looking at what's left. Also thinking about doing the plastic part on top of the front bumper. Thanks LARRY
I had my chrome strip painted. Look in pics. Just scuff, prime, paint, clear. Easy as 1-2-3

I did a search on the same subject and a few TS members said that a lot of paint shop turned them down cause the texture of the BSM won't accept paint over 'em.

The BSM has to many contours and crevisis to paint. If they did paint it there would be air bubbles and areas they could not sand so the paint would not stick well. It can be done but would cost way to much and could possibly turn out bad because of these reasons.
I was refering to the front chrome strip when I said I had mine done

Have been thinking of doing same thing for a while but have not pulled the trigger. Found a guy that painted for Toyota that opened his own shop. He said he could do it and guaranteed it to bond. His price was 150 dollars. Even if paint did bond I am not sure how the different textures: chrome strip and plastic BSM would look painted together.

150 is not bad. I think it would have to look better than it does now. If you get it done post some pics.
