Question Waag brush guard installation question

I am installing the 1 piece Waag brush guard but it is not clear where the upper brackets attach to the truck. The instructions (no drawings or pictures) state that these brackets mount to the top of the bumper behind the verticle brush guard rails. They state to remove the bumper "rivet" and mount the brakets there. To me, a rivet is something you can't remove and the closest bumper screw to where the brackets line up seems like a weak place to mount these brackets to. Also, the closest screw on the driver side has some electrical part there and the screw is covered with rubber. It looks like you would actually have to tear the rubber to access the screw.

Any help would be really great!

Cool Don't know the specific item...

But a rivit is a fastener that is not NORMALLY removed, but it can be if the instructions suggest it. A drill or grinder will do the job.

CALL WAGG!

As for the screw with the rubber, sounds like it's where the probe for your temperature guage is, assuming you have one one your mirror???

I do have a temperture guage on my mirror.

I emailed Waag but haven't heard from them yet. I posted this question, because I am not confident that I will get an answer from them anytime soon and rather hear from someone who has done it themselves.

Those plastic screws are the rivets that they are talking about. You just unscrew and pop them out. Then attatch your brackets to the remaining holes in the bumper. Hope this helps.

I just did this install myself, it's the plastic trim screws that they're referring to. they look like a black phillips head screw, with a black washer, but they're made of plastic. If you have the waag grille lined up on the front, locate the hole in the center vertical supports, then go straight back towards your radiator, you'll see the trim screws you need to replace.

p.s. did you have as much of a pain as I did getting the lower arms mounted and retaining the tow hooks? Drove me nuts!
