Unhappy Keys in the Ignition

I've noticed lately that when putting the key in the ignition, the key stops half way and you have to wiggle the key a bit to get it to go in all the way? My key doesn't look too worn out and the grooves are still there. My Tundra is 2000 w/ 42k miles.

Anyone else having this type of problem?

I had trouble with a door lock on one of my vehicles. Try a tube of graphite. Dry powder,--- put a little in the lock and on the key.---- Buzz

Instead of wiggling the key, try wiggling the steering wheel and see if that makes a difference. Maybe you're parked with the steering wheel turned at an angle just enough so that the ignition key locking mechanism doesn't allow the key to turn freely. Happened to me and... well I wiggled the key and was able to start the truck. The next time it happened I was a little quicker to think and wiggled the steering wheel....THAT was my problem.

I always wiggle the steering wheel too.....at first that's what I thought.

I've had the problem before in a Highlander. For some reason, if the wheels are turned to an extreme angle when the car is shut-off, it locks up the ignition switch, and makes it hard to remove or re-instert the key. Not sure if this is your problem, but see if the wheels are cranked over the next time it does that. The fix to this is always just to wiggle the steering wheel.
