Default Front Bed Tie-Down Loops--Paint Underneath?

I must remove my front tie-down loops which are body color, screws and all. My truck box won't fit up forward in the bed without removing them (sigh, Toyota engineers didn't think on this one). If I remove them, will I find bare metal underneath? Anyone know the correct size bit to remove the screws?

I'm a LINE-X dealer.

You will not find bare metal underneath. Try a Torx bit #40 to get the screws out.

Are you putting in a toolbox or a drop-in bedliner?

Will have Line-X sprayed in bed ($430), then add a super-large truck box which I bought for my 1997 Ford F150. The Adrian Steel box just fits with the naked bed, but not with the official Toyota drop-in bedliner. More curious Toyota engineering (liner has so much dome that the interior walls taper to lose an inch or so of space. When I test fit the box, the front tie-down rings keep the box too far to the rear to look right. But, having it there gives access to the stake pockets and the front rings. Thanks for tip on T-40 and no bare metal!
