Default Roof Rack - What do you use?

I would like to get a roof rack for a Tundra 4dr to carry a canoe. The Saris looks easy to install - but they don't have any attachments that allow a single person to load a canoe. The Yakima has a "BoatLoader" for singe person loading. However, I've heard the Yakima are not as easy to set-up. I will probably only use the rack once a month or so. In general, how much extra noise is generated by the rack clip that penetrates the weather seal on the doors? I would like to hear about experience anyone has with any roof rack for the Tundra.
P.S. I've looked at the T-Rac, but that seems a little pricey!
Thanks for any advice!

I LOVE the Yakima rack. I have used the heck out of it on 4 different vehicles. I often take it off and hang it on the wall fully assembled. Unfortunately, I have not tried using one on the Tundra yet, so can't give you specifics. As far as performance, though, its bombproof.
Good luck,
Kim

I need to get feet for my Thule rack that will fit my Tundra access cab LTD. I have to carry a sea kayak. I used the Thule on my old chevy but it was mounted to the cap. This time around I don't think I'm getting a cap so hope the roof is long enough to make a reliable carry platform for the Thule and my Kayak. My ¢.02 worth. Good Luck. Ket me know what you decide on.

No problem with a Yakima bar on my Tundra. My rowing shell requires at least 5' between supports, so I made a 2x4 H-frame that sits in the bed for the rear bar.

Definitely go with the Yakima, it's really not that hard to install. I've had mine on for a few months now and no problems, if you get the fairing for the front there is virtually no wind noise and it makes a cool place for a toyota decal (turned the fairing backwards and put a sweet silver toyota decal on mine, looks great!) I haul an 18' canoe on mine down to the buffalo river in arkansas and I live in north kansas city, I love it!

I don't think canoe rack technology has changed all that much since this thread was originally posted. The Yakima Rack system is still pretty much the best roof rack system to go with. I would like to add information about the really cool Maine Roll On roller though. This roller attaches to the rear crossbar and allows you to easily roll the canoe right up onto the crossbars and canoe carrier. This does make loading and unloading the canoe wicked easy.
