Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "LINE-X Xtra - Final Update", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I had my Line-X Xtra applied today. The dealer in Marietta GA. did an awesome job. I had the color match Xtra and it looks great. My Tundra is Desert Sand Mica and the liner looks factory. They removed everything before spraying and I could not be more satisfied. If anyone needs Linex Xtra from North or South Carolina I would recommend the drive, since no one here does Xtra. 123 Gone thanks for your info on this also.

I am getting mine done on the 18th of this Sept. He is charging me 515 complete. That is with default black.
13 miles to:
Line-X of Central Massachusetts
393 South St.
Marlborough, MA 01752
Is 515 a normal price for my area for standard black? Can I talk down the price or is this something set in stone? I am sure they know what they are doing. Anyting minor I should let them know?

I do not know about the price. Mine was color matched xtra @ $650.00 out the door. My dealer had the prices posted so I do not know if a dealer will negotiate.
This is what other people have said about things to look out for. Just make sure they remove the corner tie downs and deck rail system if you have it, and the bed bolts. They also removed my 4 rubber plugs at the front. Mine was also below the rail.
You can try to PM 123gone, He was very helpful when I had questions before I had mine done.

How does Tuff Skin bedliner compare to Line-X? They are based in Arizona but there is a shop here in Huntington Beach Ca. They are supposed to be close to the same formulation as Line-X.
I can't tell you how many times I hear, "Yea, ours is just like LINE-X".
So, I go to Kia and they have a car for $18,000 and they tell me, "It's a car, just like Lexus". So, I go to Lexus and say, "The Kia is just like Lexus, will you sell me a new Lexus for $18,000?"
So, I go to Discount Tire and they have Goodyear rear tires for my Vette for $350 each. They also have Canubalo tires for my Vette for $125 each. And, guess what, they are BOTH made out of rubber so they must be the same, eh?
Please, don't fall for this tactic.
I've never heard of Tuff Skin. Chances are they do not produce or have control over their product. They are probably buying the chemicals somewhere and just slapping their name on the door. It might be an OK product or it might not. I'd say buyer beware.
Has anyone gone to either Line-X of Central Jersey (Sayreville) or New Jersey Line-X (Bridgewater)? Either location is a short drive.
The Bridgewater location is fairly new,I believe it opened this past springtime.

I had a truck with the Line X and it faded out very quickly. My new truck I had sprayed with GatorHyde which is very similar. They have a product called GatorGloss II which is awesome. It will keep the "new" shine there for a long time.GatorHyde - Spray In Truck Bed Liner, and more!
But, that's OK, I'll address the issue. GatorGloss is like LINE-X's old Ultra Shield. It's old news, Xtra is WAY more durable and currently, no other bedliner brand has a product like Xtra.
I have had my new '08 Tundra Crewmax for 9 days now...it is great!
Dealer thru in the Linex coating...it is scheduled to be done tomorrow...
ONLY 1 LINEX company here in town...
Thanx for all the info previously posted...I was looking for answers~~~BUT NOW HAVE EVEN MORE QUESTIONS, LOL!
I read about Linex Extra online:
- asked Toyota dealer about it...he said nearest place was in NC or SC...
-called local LINEX dealer, shop personnel a lil evasive & said to call owner...
...owner said, "oh yeah we can do that ...basic black would be an additional $150 after the dealer covered the basic Linex coating"...I asked again about the "xtra"...he said "yeah but we call it "armor coat"...
Then I read here... and since 2005 it seems there has been a progression of at least 3 types of secondary treatment...called various names.
At my salesman's rec I called the shop again...got the sme young tech that was very helpful and informative...till I asked for more clarification on the comments from Toyo dealer...regarding the "Xtra" product and that the nearest shop that provided it was in NC/SC...& what is the "Armor coat" that I was told they did and infer'd to be same thing.
Immediately the informative tech stopped and said he just does the job, if I neded specifics I need to call the owner...he didn't want to get in the middle of it.
THIS REALLY CONCERNS ME!
I feel that from what I have read..."LINEX-Xtra" would be a worthwhile investment to top off the basic LINEX liner...but I want to be assured that I am getting what I pay for!
Linex basic black coating (pd by Toyo dealer)...$450-$475
Xtra...in black............................................$ 150
or
....color matched .................................$350-$400
(((While I was considering the color...that is a bit too much additional charge, so I was considering just the black second treatment...))) if the cost estimates are accurate...I am not sure it is "Xtra" at the local shop, as the tech had said they don't do amy colors!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How do I find a CERTIFIED LINEX Xtra dealer?
What is a reasonable cost for "LINEX Xtra"?
Can the second coat/Xtra be done at a later date?... or should it be done immediately after the basic Linex lining?
Thanx for any help/advice.
Sam
Reason: correct/update
Amor Coat is NOT, I repeat, is NOT the same as LINE-X Xtra. I'm 100% sure of this.
Trust me, Xtra is way more durable and is more desirable that Armor Coat. If you wish, I'll call the LINE-X dealer and set him straight.
Explanations:
Amorcoat: A clearcoat film that goes onto your truck's paint, like 3M film.
Amor Coat: A company that makes a do-it-yourself bedliner product as well as some paints and primers.
Armor Gloss: A topcoat for bedliners.
I called Linex...ref'd me to a tech support guy ... who was on the road...he eventually called me, very nice person!
I was very concerned...called several other Linex dealers in adjacent areas...
One lady was very nice and informative...both about the product/the dealers/CORP WEBSITE!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I did already go to the LINEX website...
I did already use the dealer locator, ... WITH THE ' "XTRA" dealers only' block checked!!!
(that option is practically useless...) most of the ones listed I called none were doing "XTRA" YET...they had agreed to do it sometime in the future...corp has already id'd them as currently doing so on the website! shop owner said, "jumped the gun"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lady I spoke with said ... it requires training/certification/and an upgrade to shop: overhaul/reconfig...very expensive evolution...she is haveing her shop done and will soon be able to do it...but as of right now, the only dealer she knew of was @ 1.5 hours west of Richmond, Va, (she was 1 + hours south)
I contacted him...and I was told that it needs to be done at the same time!!! to insure proper bonding/sealing...{{{{this was confirmed by the corp tech-support person that called me back}}}}...contrary to what the local dealer said!
I spoke with my toyo dealer...and they agreed to let me switch from the local guy they do business with to the 1 I found...so I could get it done right with the actual product.
Tuesday...I am driving up to have both done!
Dealer has already worked out the payment for the base...& I pay the additional $175 for the "Xtra" in BLACK.....(the color match would have been only $275...but after thinking about it...I really liked the contrasting black bedliner color...and it will blend in nicely with the TOYO covers on the sides of the bed.
Wait 'till you see black LINE-X with Xtra, you're gonna love it! Keep in mind that 5 years from now, it's still going to look like the day it was applied.
