I left the rail caps on. Went over the rail at the head of the bed where there is no cap. They took the bed bolts off which is important.

lexusrx2: Sorry I didn't reply sooner! Congrats on you new bedliner! If you keep a tonneau over it, you really don't need Nason or Xtra. You might consider putting some Just Once (www.justonce.com) on it a couple of times a year to keep it looking really good. It's sort of like putting a protectorant on your dash or seats to make them look good.

Rail caps: KEEP THEM ON!

Nason is not recommeded for commercial vehicles because it could eventually rub down with heavy continuous use. Xtra is supposed to be more durable.

Default Thanks and another question...

I haven't heard of justonce before. Is it as well thought of as the 303 protectant? The 303 leaves a little oily feel but I heard it's good stuff.

One Line-X dealer tells me to take the rail caps off and cover the holes with some aluminum tape. Another Line-X dealer says leave the rail caps on. Decisions decisions.

The caps give a nice clean finished look to the rails. I do not think I would like the look of the line-x on top of the bedrails at all. It looks great in the bed but rugged looking on the rails. I prefer the clean smooth finish for the rails.

I'd have to agree with (lexusrx2). It just wouldn't look quite right on these trucks without a bedrail cap. Besides, it seems nearly every truck on the market now, had bedrail caps. The ONLY reason, I'd even consider removing the bedrail caps, would be, if you're possibly planning for a topper/camper shell. It's my understanding, in such a case, you DO have to remove the bedrail caps. If that's the case, it's FOR SURE I'd have line-x applied on the rails, before I put a topper on it!

303 is a good product but more slippery than Just Once.

I had a customer with a brand new Tundra who wanted LINE-X sprayed on the rails. We advised him not to do it. He was going to put some kind of special top on it so it did not matter what it looked like. So, we did it. We covered the holes with wire tape, etc. First of all, the shape of the rails are really ugly. You can pull up on an end of a rail cap and see what I mean. They are not shaped like Chevy's metal rails. Plus, the holes are too large for metal tape. Since LINE-X goes on with heat, the metal tape heats up, expands, and sags. If you just have to take those caps off, I suggest you weld the holes (about 40 of them) closed. I wonder what that would cost? That's my fair warning!

Spray the rail caps? I'll have to think about that.

Very purdy!

From your pics, here's something to notice. At the end of the bed (at the tailgate), see how LINE-X goes OVER the edge and down a bit? Some other bedliner brands, especially the 100% polyurethane brands, stop at the edge. Reason: Their liners stay soft a while after they spray the liner. So they just take a knife and cut the liner all the way across even with the bed's edge. Personally, I think it's better to have the edge covered.

When they do, I'll snap some pics.

Thanks for the info . I'll make sure i'm not the first or so customer .

We've sprayed three trucks so far with Xtra (two Dodge, one Tundra). The Tundra we sprayed today for a TS forum member! THANKS!

I took some pics with my film camera and with my video recorder that can take some low res pics. These are the low res pics, they are out of focus a bit. It's difficult to take a pic of a black liner that sparkles in the sun. The white specks are major sparkles (sun reflections). Keep in mind that this bedliner will ALWAYS look brand new, guaranteed. The pics don't do justice, but here you go:
