Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "LINE-X Xtra - Final Update", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Ok so I got to ask how much just to add on Xtra? With a black truck I feel its only natural to have a glossed up bed. I used JustOnce and it looked great for about 2 months.
I've been quoted $80-100 for the coating if it is added while they are doing the liner. Was told would be an extra $50-75 to do after the fact.

Those prices are too low for Xtra. Those prices are for perhaps Ultra Shield (which you don't want) or Nason. I'll send PM's.
ZdaMan: Your PM box is full!!
Sorry! Its empty now. Didn't realize I was so popular.
I had the Ultra Shield done at the same time the the Line-X was done. Luckily I didn't pay extra for it or I would of been pissed. Didn't help much with fading, but then again the FL sun is rather blazing.

Ultra Shield is not included in the Nationwide Lifetime Warranty. But, go back to the dealer and complain, tell him you want Xtra. Most dealers will want to make you happy.
The dealer I am going to uses Xtra. JUst thought any of them would have the nationwide warranty.

I've notice threads saying bed bolts shouldn't be sprayed over but what about the drain plugs? two on the bed floor and the other two "gaskets on the cab-side wall? should they be sprayed over?

My drain plugs were sprayed over. There are still holes in the drain plugs.

I had them spray the rubber plugs except the two near the tailgate needed for access to the tail lights (stepside). If I need holes I can always drill them. The two that they didn't spray fit back into the holes nicely. I was worried that they wouldn't.
How is line x applied? Heard horror stories of having to sand the bed down before applying....
Then I realized that once applied, I would never even attempt to remove the line-x so nothing to worry about. If I did want to remove it later on I'd probably have to do some sanding anyway. Don't worry, it's worth it, looks great and you'll never have to worry about scratching the bed again.
Yep, you should consider a spray-on bedliner a permanent application. I strip out other brand bedliners a few times a year. I can tell you it's a real PITA to do.
The bedliner product is much better protection than the few mils of paint you currently have.
