Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "LINE-X Xtra - Final Update", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Is there anything I can apply to the Line-X Xtra to keep the water spots from drying on it? I noticed water accumulates in the corners of the bed and leaves some water spots I prefer not to have.

That's due to "hard" water. I use a Mr. Clean AutoDry. After you wash your truck, use the "spot-free" rinse. If you use a carwash, also use a spot free rinse. I bought my AutoDry at Sams or Costco, can't remember exactly. Here's what it looks like:

I forgot about the hard water. I'm thinking I should just buy one of those portable water softeners that attaches to a hose. Nothing fancy but it still should be pretty effective.

Bunch of good folks on this site, you'll enjoy it very much.
Here are the dealers closest to Seneca. I'm not sure if they offer Xtra. So, you'll need to give them a call. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to help you.

123gone,
I got my bed line-x'd about a month after I bought it new in Feb '05. Was the Xtra available then? Line-x of Virginia Beach did it. I don't recall them asking me if I wanted Xtra. My bed has faded pretty badly since then.

No, I don't think so. I made my first post here in Aug of '05 right after I finished the training class. I was in the second class offered.
Here's what you can do to fixer up:
1. Clean it with automotive soap and water. Use a stiff brush and give it a good scrup. If it's REALLY soiled, buy some CLR Cleaner, available at Wallymart type stores and Lowes/Home Depot.
2. Let it dry.
3. Apply an Armorall type product on it. We don't particularly like Armorall because it's greasy. We suggest either Just Once (justonce.com) or 303 Aerospace. The first time you put it on, it's going to soak up quite a bit, so buy one or two large bottles.
An alternate to number 3 is to take it the dealer and let him apply Xtra, Nason, Ultra Shield or some other one-time UV application. Best durabilty occurs when these products are applied to a warm freshly applied bedliner, but I'd say go for it anyway.

i also use this and love it. their advertising claims that you MUST use their soap because that is the first step in achieving the soptless feature. has anyone tried to only use the spot free rinse after soaping with a different brand?
i have soft water in the house, but don't have a bib outside yet. i plan to route hot/cold water out there because i like washing with warm water.

The coin car-wash nearby my place has a "spotless" final rinse washing option. Although it is 1/10 of the power of the full pressure rinse, it does dry much faster and leaves little to no water spots. I use my own mitt and soap at these places, then use their pressure rinse guns, then the final spotfree rinse. It works on the commercial units, why wouldn't it work at home? It's just a deionizer.
ps. don't drink the water.
