Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "LINE-X Xtra - Final Update", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I'd say automotive soap/water and a brush, like a tooth brush if you have just a little area of wax. Or, take it to a do-it-yourself car wash and use a pressure washer, that may work.
oi oi, I asked my local shop about Xtra and a price quote on a custom bumper.... Here's the reply:
Currently we are not offering the line-x Xtra. We can apply Ultrashield over top of your existing bedliner. Ultrashield is a UV protectant offered by Line-X. On the bumper with out looking at it I would around $300.00 and the bumper must be removed from the vehicle.
Thank You,

My shop actually did that bumper job a long time ago. It's been a couple of years ago or more. I really don't remember what we charged. Just my opinion, but $300 with Ultra Shield is about right.
Ultra Shield is OK, not great. We actually have US on our shop truck and was applied about 3.5 years ago. US is better than nothing. It's not real glossy and will need occasional "Amorall" after a while. I'd say do it.
heyyy,
Regarding our last conversation about fading and/or cleaning of faded line-x.
I bought some STP-tire care (foam aerosol can) for the underside of the truck. Frame and undercarriage look new again. BUT, I experimented on an unnoticable spot of the bed in hopes to bring some luster back to the faded line-x from 2005. It cleaned up nicely.
Think it would be ok to spray the whole bed? It really looks black again. No elbow grease either, just spray and walk away. (note: $2.50 per can at Big Lots)

My 07 Tundra (5.7L DC long bed) is being delivered next week. Can't wait, since I ordered it in April (at least the financing deals are better now).
I want to get the Line-X with Xtra, and there are a few dealers that are relatively close to me here in Orange County (Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Santa Ana, Signal Hill), and a number of others that are not that much farther away (in LA, San Diego, or San Bernardino counties) that I could drive to.
Does anyone have any recommendations/warnings/advice on which dealers do a good job (and have experience with the deck rail system) in Southern California (Orange County, ideally)? Thanks.

I would not use STP. It's chock full of silicones and will make everything slipprey and greasy and a dust magnet.
Regular Armor All or Extremely Wet by No-Touch works much much much better.

The 2007 Regular Cab Tundra's with the sport package have a small step bumper under the tail gate. It's plastic covered, often slippery with water or dirty shoes and somewhat small. A solution to the slipperiness and ultimately any scratches it may have is to have Line-X sprayed over it, which I did today. I then applied "Just Once", which is a rubber and plastic protectent. The pictures attached show the results.

I just got my truck line-x'ed yesterday, and it looks/feels AMAZING. Unfortunately they didn't offer the xtra or I would have gotten that too. Thanks for all the posts/pics helping me make my decision to get line-x, I'm sure I won't regret it.
New Tundra owner here. I just got it on Saturday and wow. What a truck. I originally set out to get a Nissan Titan, because I am a Titan season ticket holder and well, what better to have a Titan Blue Titan? Then I by chance went to look at the Toyota and saw a Pyrate Mica Crewmax SR5 and I was hooked. Love everything about it. Well almost...the 6 speakers are pretty weak, but I got a great buy so can't complain.
Anyway, it didn't have a bedliner so I ordered one and built it into the price. After doing some research on here, looked like spray-on was best so I called and they said they can do a spray on thru Line-x and I can just pay the difference, which shouldn't be alot since a factory bedliner is atleast $345 and the spray-on is $369. So here are my questions:
1) IF the local Line-X guy has the Xtra, is it worth the extra and how much extra would it be?
2) When I take it to get done, anything I should tell them to do that they don't normally do, i.e. cover car in plastic, etc?
3) Off the subject, my wife is quite short and I currently have to carry around a step stool in the truck so she can get in So, I want to put some step rails on the truck. Any suggestions on what type and what manufacturer?
4) Finally, I have a Sirius Stilletto...anyone every hook one of those up in their truck?
1. YES, GET IT IF YOU CAN. Nuf said there. Dealers are free to set their own prices. But, from what I've see, you're looking at about $200 to $250 more for an Xtra color match.
2. The dealer has been trained to spray trucks, generally speaking. However, there are "tricks" to certain vehicles including the Tundra. If you wish, give me the telephone number of the dealer and I'll ask the appropriate questions for you.
3. I highly recommend stainless steel (won't rust) as opposed to carbon steel (will rust). There are many good brands, but look at Nasta (100% stainless, including the bolts, screws, and other mounting hardware) and Westin Platinum Series (not Signature Series). Again, many good brands out there and I'm sure others on the board can chime in with their favorites.
