replace tundra steering wheel with lexus unit?

My Toyota Tundra is a 90K, and the steering soft wheel cover is splitting.

I was looking at a Lexus 330 with wood appearance steering wheel, and it appears that the two wheels are very similar.

Can other Toyota/Lexus steering wheel units be used to replace the Tundra unit?

I have seen a LS400 steering wheel on a Tundra,it was owned by a Lexus technician in VA or MD. The one nice thing about the swap was the Tundra airbag was a direct fit into the wheel. I'd be worried about possible safety concerns using a airbag off a different vehicle.

Thanks for passing that along. It looked to me that the airbag was the same size and shape on both wheels, so I was hoping it was a direct fit.

I agree with you: I would not be to fast to try another airbag...thanks again...jim

There is a nice looking 3-spoke TRD steering wheel with SRS airbag at Carson Toyota; although it looks nice, the price is a little steep and it says "** OFF ROAD or SHOW CAR use ONLY, air bag deployment will not occur on impact, not suitable for street**"

I was interested because I was looking for a less pricey black steering wheel with SRS airbag for the Tundra. Does anyone know where to get a black Toyota steering wheel with airbag?

I received an email from my local dealer (KMT Toyota in San Diego). The Service Manager says he has checked out this swap before, and the Lexus unit into a Tundra is not a drop-in replacement.

Time to look at other replacement options I guess.

I checked wityh the dealer parts people today. They want $430 for a replacement wheel ring.
