Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Yellowed Head Light Housings on a 2000?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I want to know if anyone else has this problem, over the past six months, my lamp lenses have turned dull and yellow, lile an old plastic bottle! If anyone has had this problem, what have they done about it, did toyota cover the cost of new housings?
I have heard of people using the clear bra to make there lights look clear again. You dont need the whole kit just the light cover parts. Clear bra is a thin film that sticks to the light and protects it. Couple people I have talked to say that there 5 year old lights look great after they installed it. OR just buy new lights on ebay but that will probably cost alot more.
Had the same problem on my 2000 Tundra. After much time and effort I finally fixed the problem.
See my thread for a solution to your problem. Headlight resurfacing kit
Pick up a little kit called the "5 Minute Optical Polish" by NicSand. They sale it at Autozone and Advance Auto Parts.
Try Brasso first. Yep, metal polish Brasso. Look at the back of the can under "other uses" and it says plastic watch crystals which are very similar to head/tail light housings. They will shine like new.
