This is a discussion thread titled "Installing Overhead Info Console", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Got all my parts in. Still need help. I have a 2006 SR5 double cab with sunroof. The wiring to the overhead console has the correct connector and every pin has a wire.(No empty spots) I installed the overhead console and the compass works and everything has power. I also installed the thermistor but still i do not get any reading on the display. Any ideas. Im about to give up and bring it to Toyota, but you would think this would be working at this point.
I also bought a wiring harness that I do not need.
part number 82171-0C100 it has all the correct connectors including the sunroof. The only empty slot I beleive is pin 2. If anyone is interested I will sell it for what I bought it for. $80 (My truck already had 82171-0C112 installed)
T-Nick, I'm not sure if you've solved your problem yet. If not you might want to make sure the small pigtail from the roof wire is plugged into the cowl wire, the connection is 1C5. They join just to the left of the instrument cluster. My old roof wire didn't have this pigtail, but the new one for the console does.
Everyone, I'm still having trouble. I am trying to figure out which wires go to which pins so that I can put the O8 plug onto the new roof wire for the console. Have any of you guys made any headway on this. If I can't figure it out I guess I'll have to by another wire.
So, if anyone has their roof wire harness with the O8 plug handy, would they tell me what color wires go into each pin slot.
Thanks
Ok -- I've done some digging now, and at this point i need to aquire the right wiring bundle. My dealership was only able to pull up roof wire bundles with no description. The first one is the one installed in my truck. Here are the part#s with MSRP:
This is where the part # for the bundle is located:
This is where IC5 is which is a necessary part of the wiring bundle (note this is right behind the tach):
This is were the roof wire terminates in the j/b at the drivers left knee:
Where does IC5 plug into? I do not see it in your photo. How hard was it to remove the instrument cluster. I only took off the upper column which let me see the connector was there, which I could not fit my hand into, but not if it was plugged into anything.
IC5 is taped to a large wire bundle to the left of your instrument cluster (you can see it in one of the pictures above). I just cut the tape, then it is long enough to plug in to.
To access it I removed the black trim from around the instrument cluster. Then remove the 4 screws that hold the cluster in place. you do not have to unplug anything from the instrument cluster, just move it back and to the right out of your way. With the cluster moved over, you can see IC5 and should be able to plug into it from there.
I also can not get a temp reading on my console after installing the thermister. I have an 06 XSP with Sunroof and have the Square 08 connector full of wires. Also checked the IC5 connector behind the cluster and that is plugged in too. My only question now, is there a difference in consoles from 2001 till now, because the one i have is from a 01 Sequoia and i am thinking maybee something has changed since regarding consoles or wiring. I can't see any other problems
I dont beleive there is a difference I bought one for an 06 same options as you and still no signal. I checked all the connections and they are all connected. Any Toyota employees want to step up and help us out. I might just end up bringing it in to the dealer tomorrow. Somehow with the limited info we have all gotten I am willing to bet they can not fix it either.
T-nick - can you post a pic of the extra harness you have? It should have 3 connectors, O8, IC5, and 1M...
as for the temp issue, i am in the same boat as you guys, although i still need to get the right wiring squared away. My only thought is to troubleshoot the thermister by measuring the resistance across it.... you should get a signal between wires 4/5 at the overhead console. Since the thermister reports the temp by resistance, you should be able to tell if you are getting a signal from the therister. Here are some common values:
50F 2.68-3.3
60F 2.1 - 2.6
70F 1.6 - 2.1
Here is a picture of the extra harness. It has connectors IC5, The fuse box connector, 08 (missing only pin 13), m6 (for the sunroof), and the one for the dome light.
I can confirm that 0C480 does in fact work. I just put it in this morning. I got it for $57. I now have a fully functional compass/temp meter plus homelink. Drop me a line if you have any questions.... thanks for all the help!
My truck has the OC112 harness installed. All the connectors mentioned are there and the plugs are full of wires. What is the difference between the mine and the one needed? Is ther a schematic available for these harneses so i could see what's going on?
i've tried everything with the display, it's just 3 dashes where the temp should be. I don't understand how the wiring loom on my truck does not work with the console. It would make some sense if there were wires missing, but there aren't????? with a schematic it would be easy to see why, but they are not available it seems.
