This is a discussion thread titled "Installing Overhead Info Console", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have a new overhead console available from my 2006 Tundra DC. It's gray, and it was in my truck for 3 days. I replaced it because I couldn't get my homelink to program. After replacing it, I realized that I'm an idiot and was doing it wrong. I was able to program it once I figured out that I was doing it wrong. I am a Toyota technician, and was able to keep my old console. Anyone who is interested email me at cignasak@comcast.net. I'm not gonna ask some ridiculous amount for it, just make me a reasonable offer.
Good news, my console was bad. 0c112 does work for the overhead console. Still have wiring harness 0c100 available if anyone needs it. I wil ship it for $60. On paper it should work for the overhead console and sunroof. (I did not test it because I ended up not needing it.)
I have been trying to order part # 82171-0C480 which is the wiring harness needed for the overhead console from my local toyota dealer in Richmond, VA for over a month and they say it is on national backorder..
Does anyone know of a toyota dealer I can purchase this wiring harness from?
Well, I finally got the correct wire (Thanks to T-Nick) and installed it Sunday. Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with the console. The lights and Homelink still work, and the compass comes on but never changes from North. I tried to calibrate and imput the correct location code but it still doesn't change from North. Also, the Temp doesn't work it just shows --- and never gets a temp reading.
So, there is either a problem with the console itself, or the Seqouia console doesn't work on a Tundra.
Metts - glad to hear it kind of worked. With the compass I remeber reading somting in the owners manual about the compass not changing and what to do. On the temp that is the same thing my consol did until toyota replaced it. I am wondering if the guy that sold me mine missrepresented it as a tundra console when it was actually for a Sequoia. I would have thought the two were interchangable, but maybe there is a difference. Or we both bought broken consoles. Best of luck. Let us know how everything turns out.
The consoles look the same, but Sequoia consoles have additional info such as distance to empty, and MPG. I believe this in turn requires different wiring which the Tundra probably do not have.
Thats it. My "Bad" console did list those when I started the ignition. Be careful on ebay. My console was listed for a tundra but was definatly from a Sequoia.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped on this thread. I had a chance to install the new wiring harness this weekend and it worked great. I now have a working compass and temp gauge that looks factory!
so is there any way to get all the perks from the sequoia? mpg, distance, etc? now that this much has been figured out, might as well see how far you can run with this. i wouldn't mind having the info center like the sequoias
Got my overhead console w/homelink ready to install, wiring harness 82171 oc270 04 tundra. the vanity light sensor/switches there (white) on the backside, have two wires each. On my 06 that what its going on have three wires each, from what i checked 2wire is on/off 3 wire is on/off/delay iwant to swap my 06 vanity light switches/sensors over to the 04 unit. two wires are same color, but i don't know where the other white wire need to go. i need someone to post a picture of the backside 05/06 tundra with 3wire each set up on there overhead console w/homelink. ineed to see if its plice in to another homelink wire or does it run to its own pin # in the connector module. you can also email me jus PM me i'll send email addy.
