This is a discussion thread titled "Seat Cover Options?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I am looking for seat covers for my 02' Thunder Gray Access Cab with Oak interior and Captain's Chairs. I am looking for the best options for seat covers that are not too expensive but also have a good fit. I like the Wet Okole seat covers but they are slightly out of my price range for what I would like to spend, has anyone had any luck finding any that fit right at a cheaper price?
Hi, Im sorry I dont have an answer for you about the seat covers, but I do have a quick question.
It seems as if we have the same truck. Did you swap out the garage remote holder for the sunglass holder on the overhead console? If yes please let me know how it went? I had lots of trouble getting the original one off. I have to pull pretty hard.
Checkout JC Whitney. I bought my "Surefit" seatcovers there. IIRC mine were about $25 cheaper than the other places I checked. The fit has been good and installation was relatively easy. Good Luck.
Can't recomend what to get, but can definitely recommend what not to get.
Anything from Seat Covers Unlimited. They are a local outfit but do a fair bit of "internet" sales. Custom fit covers for front and rear bench including armrest were $300 (approx., no headrest covers). I had to go there four times, and am still not happy with fit, cannot get them to take them back, and cannot get them to make me a new one.
As far as I can tell, if you order these "custom" covers you will have the following issues...
- Recess not cut into rear back for bottom release latches
- Slots/boxes not cut into back for seat belt buckle storage
- Hole for rear armrest is too large approximately 1.5 inch of seat shows through on the top.
I have several other items I find to be design issues, items that don't fit real nicely, etc. But don't want to take up too much space.

I have the same setup as you from Seat Covers Unlimited (Mesa, right?). Pros: Very similar to OEM seat design, covers full seat, protects original seats completely. Cons: Everything else. My covers do not fit terribly well. They cover the controls for the seats in the front and the lever that unlocks the rear seat. They tie down with funky little ties that don't stay tight and get in the way. They slide around on the front seats, bunching under yer butt after a short period of time.
If I had to do it again frankly, I'd go to Toyota and spend the money to get the original pattern with covers that were designed to fit from the start. If you want to see pics of what I got, I'll take some. Basically I'm not completely happy with the covers, but they do the job I bought them for, so I'm not completely dissatisfied either.
Chris

Thanks for your help guys, I did some research and came up with www.great-covers.com they use the actual Toyota fabric and only cost $89 + shipping including covers for the headrest and armrest. And they also have a 3-year warranty. These are the same exact covers that most Toyota dealerships sell for around $125+ but if you get them factory direct you save money. I should have them in by Thursday and will let you all know how they fit. They assure me the fit will be perfect since they supposedly use a CAD program to design and build these.
Well, I got the seat covers in from www.great-covers.com and they fit real nice and they do use the factory Toyota fabric. They come in 4 separate pieces for each seat (upper, lower, headrest, armrest) and they also include a center console lid cover, Almost the best $89 I ever spent.
Good deal! I have front and rear bench seats. I paid almost $300 for the lot and did not get head rest covers. I will have to remember the place you got them from for next time....

Thanks for the info. I might be changing my bench seats to buckets. If I do get them I'll definitely be getting a pair of these seat covers.
So a while after getting your seat covers from great-covers, what do you think? Do you like them? How about some reviews... I'm particularly curious about:
1. Does your cover slide around at all? (Mine gradually works its way backward on the driver's seat, causing wrinkles under my butt.)
2. Have the velcro fastenings held?
3. Is the quality good?
4. Does the cover allow for the rear seat arm?
5. Do the covers obstruct the rear seat release levers or the front seat adjustment controls?

I ordered the cordura option for the "waterproof" characteristic. I'm not expecting super-beautiful covers because of this, but I'm curious if anyone has seen this in person.
I do a lot of water sports and really want to protect the original material from silty lake and salt water as much as possible.
