Question TRD Sticker, Yes or No?

Hello Everyone!

Here is your chance to determine the fate of my Tacoma. So far I have debadged it, and am wondering if I should remove the TRD sticker on the rear of the bed. Please check out my photos and let me know your opinion. In two weeks I will add up all the votes in this thread and do what you decide.

Right now I'm 50/50 on the stickers. I think the truck would look better without them, but my main hesitation is "Would the resale value suffer?" I just don't know.

I promise I will do what you guys and gals decide. Two weeks from tonight is the Tuesday before the CA Big Bear trip that I am going on, so the others there will either see the stickers, or not.....

Thanks for all your help

Default Boot 'em!

You heard me. Boot 'em! Why would anyone want a thin film of plastic glued to the sides of their truck anyhow? Look at any truck with a few years on it that still has some sort of cheesy faded sticker on it and you'll see why the sooner the better.

I just removed mine about a week ago, and I'm very glad I did. I love the look now. I doubt very seriously that it would lower the resale value of your truck. It is still a TRD with or without the stickers. The best way I found to remove them is to heat them up and pull them off slowly. Most of the adhesive will remain on the truck. I took bug and tar remover (safe for paint), sprayed it on, and then took a Dremel tool set at about 7000 RPM (No faster) with the felt tip polishing accessory and proceded to remove the adhesive quite quickly. Once the bulk of it is removed just take a cotton cloth and wipe it off. Make sure you wash and wax it when your done. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thumbs up

I agree removing them shouldn't lower its resale value as adding a sticker w/o necessarily adding the underlying components wouldn't increase the resale value.

Loose the stickers . . . it's the TRD options on the truck that give it any value, not a $5.00 sticker!! ;^)

BTW "each" sticker costs $35 and that was with a 20% discount. I know I bought 2 of them for $70+.

I think it depends on how long you intend to keep the truck. As time goes by it will look worse and worse. If you are going to keep it for a long time, get rid of it. If you are going to trade it in or sell it within a couple of years, then leave it on.

Personally, I'd keep them on, but I would have kept my badges too.

So, since you've already removed your badges, I'd remove the stickers...

Dump them......I removed mine soon after I got my truck. I think after time they will start to look bad, and then it will be too late. I haven't been sorry. It is much cleaner looking.

Resale value has mainly to do with total mileage, options, and condition of truck at time of trade-in or re-sale. And of course if that particular brand of truck remains popular.

Take it off, take it all off! Our TRD decals are all on though as the Red Hornet is very modest.

Cheers,
-RH

My thinking is - if you're cool, you don't have to proclaim it. I removed mine about a month ago and debadged the truck. Haven't looked back. I get a lot of compliments on how "clean" the truck looks. It's also a lot easier to wax.
I used a hair drier and started peeling the sticker at one corner. For the most part, it came off in one piece.
The remaining adhesive came off easy with 3M adhesive remover available in the automotive section at Wal-Mart. This stuff is safe on paint and will remove the adhesive very easily without a lot of effort or risky power tools. Apply wax to protect the newly exposed surface.

Talking I took 'em off!!

Thanks guys! I guess I just needed to hear it from somebody else that loves their trucks as much as I do. Tonight they came off. Not difficult, just a lot of elbow grease to get the glue off. Once I cleaned and rewaxed the area, I stood back and took a look. Darn, I should have done this sooner. You were all right. It does look better without the stickers.

Thanks, and potos to be posted soon.
