Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "Best Spray-In Liners?", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
It' s been awhile since I've participated, but I'm ready to buy a bed liner for my Tundra now and need some advise!
Can anyone tell me what a good brand of spray-in liner is? Also, I want to get a bed cap, does this mean I have to get an under the rail liner, or can I still get an over the rail liner?
Personally, I like the Rhino Liner, although Line-X is more popular or at least better represented. We even have our own Line-X expert on the forum! I think it's DeSmet. If I am wrong or butchered the name, I'm sure someone will come along and correct me here. Just PM him.
I like the Rhino because it is thick and rubbery. It does fade and get "chalky" looking, but I like that it does NOT have the Line-X sandpaper finish. I'm afraid of scratching patio furniture and other stuff like that if I had Line-X.
Neither Line-X or Rhino will allow things to slide around much, unlike the drop-ins where stuff slides around notoriously easily.
Rhino, Line-X, ArmaCoat--they're all good. Do you like thin & tough or thick, rubbery, & tough?
More depends on the care the installer takes. Do they remove all the bed and tailgate bolts before spraying or do they seal them in? Do they properly prepare the surface? Is the stuff sprayed evenly?
Check the guarantee. Some are only guaranteed by the individual shop that does the work, not the national organization. If that shop goes bust, you no longer have a guarantee.

Yvonne,
I got the Rhino-Lining. Nothing slides & the liner does not damage cargo like the Line-x seems to do. I had it sprayed over the rail & put a Snug Top on. It looks great. I get lots of compliments. Best of luck.
We have had posters and their pictures showing bed bolts in and out before spraying. I think that removing them before spraying makes it look sharp.
Most people are leaving the bedrails on and spraying under the rail. Anyone have one with the liner sprayed on the rail and the plastic rails off? I understand that there are several holes left on the rail.
Thanks to each and every one of you for giving your input. I really appreciate it. Some really tips given and good points made too.
A question comes to mind now concerning the Line-X liner....considering it's sandpaper-like texture, when I get a scoop of mulch or topsoil, is it going to be difficult to hose out of this liner? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Also, KLS...you mentioned ArmaCoat, what is this liner like?
i figure since i have an armacoat i can answer your question and a question earlier in the string of posts. the arma coat is similar to the line-x. its a hot spray, which in my opinion makes all the difference in the world. it goes on with amazingly clean lines and looks really sharp. i opted to have the bolts holding my bed on sprayed over because i figured if i ever had to take my bed off it was because i got in a wreck. i got the rails sprayed over because the arma coat will not warp, and the plastic rails WILL warp over time- its the nature of plastic. the liner does leave holes in the rails but theyre just the drop in tie downs or lumber rack holes (the square ones placed towards the end of your truck bed). if you have any more questions about arma coat you can visit their web site at armacoatings.com or you can just reply to this and ill answer back. im really pleased with my liner and im sure it will hold up well. and to those guys transporting furniture- why are you worried about the lining scratching up the furniture anyways? you should always use a thick blanket or movers blanket when transporting furniture in your truck bed anyways... talk to you later and i hope that info helps. oh yeah, one more thing- if you go to get your liner sprayed in, offer cash and make sure he drops the price to a more reasonable one for you. i got 120 bucks taken off of mine just because i was decent to the guy and was interested in the quality he was doing. the guy applying the liner makes all the difference in the world- make friends with him!<br /> aika
I have a 2001 TRD Offroad, I removed the plastic bedrails & had Rhino sprayed over the rails. The installer can cover the holes with the Rhino-Lining. I removed the rails because I had a Snug-Top shell installed and did not want to have it sitting on the rails. I saw a truck with a shell installed on the rails, and didn't like the look. I prefer the Rhino's slightly soft feel to Line-X's sandpaper-like feel.

Sorry I've been away. Looks like a lot of question about spray-ons. I'll do my best to give answers about the industry. Oh...thanks for the birthday wishes the other day.

Line-X all the way. I love mine. Paul, I've been meaning to drop you an email. I didn't know if you are management in Line-X, or an individual vendor. I want to discuss with you a possible sponsorship

Yeah Line-x all the way! Although I don't have it, I fell in love at first sight! It's expensive and I'd lose even more money by selling my old drop-in for less than 100 or maybe even trashing it. Paid something like 300 for the stupid drop in. Line-x is the best because everyone I know who has it loves it.
Thanks again to all of you who offered advise and info. I'm going to go and check out the options at the various dealers, keeping in mind all of the points everyone has made, and then I'll make my decision. Hopefully I can get a good deal too!
