Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "My wipers still create haze!! Help!!", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
No matter what brand wipers I use (I've used Toyota, Bosch Micro Edge Exel, Piaa, etc) they ALL still create some type of haze!! I just recently changed my Toyota wipers to the Micro Edge Exels because the Toyotas were pretty worn, however the Exels still create haze on the windshield. I have not used Rain-X at all recently (meaning past 6 months). I even used rubbing alcohol to remove the Rain-X when I did use it a while back. I've also used No Touch Auto Glass Stripper to remove any of the silicone provided by the Piaa silicone wipers back when I used them nearly a year ago as well. The No Touch worked temporarily.
Do fellow Sequoia owners have a similar problem with thier wipers creating haze on thier windshield or is it just me? Could it be the windshield itself thats causing the problem?

No Touch Auto Glass Stripper is good stuff. You might need to use more until that haze is finally gone. I haven't found anything else that removes Rain-X, not even laquer thinner, and you might still have some on the glass.

Think I should get a buffer maching and buff the hell out of it as opposed to applying it by hand?

believe it or not but coca-cola will clean any residue off of glass, including oil or silicone. just pour it on wipe it down good and rinse very well, it wont hurt the paint like some other stuff will.

If you ask me, buffing glass wont be THAT much more effective that hand applying. What you should do is just get a car polish(megs deep crystle for OTC buyers) and polish your windshield. Then apply a sealant or wax such as megs NXT or other such OTC brands. If it does not clear up after that, try a new windshield like I did!

But it doesn't clean very well, and leaves a mess. If the carbonic acid in the soda reallyd oes clean, use club soda...at least it won't leave a sticky brown mess. http://www.breakthechain.org/awards/0307.html

to each their own, but I have used it for battery terminals and to get road sludge off the windshield and dead bugs off the bumper grill and windshield...all worked surprisingly well. as to the break the chain link, If you are aiming to debunk something then thats usually what happens.

Try this: http://www.properautocare.com/glassscrub.html , I bought some at my local Auto Barn. Haven't tried it yet though. Do you use the windshield squirter a lot? What is in the bottle? What kind of fluid do you use? I had use the Rain-x fluid for a while but it left white spots all the time but did add a little to the beading performance longevity. You might want to flush the bottle and or try some white vinegar also. The acidic properties have helped many with the hard water/mineral stains/spots from sprinklers etc. Might want to just run some through your system once emptied. That what Mr. Coffee and other recommend to clean your coffee maker from scale and build up from the water. Just make sure to wash the truck afterward.
I took my '04 Sienna in for servicing, and they took it upon themselves to change my wipers, which were working fine. Since then I have had a haze on the windshield when it rains and I have to use the wipers. I went back twice and had them change the blades, to no effect. I was told to give it a while and it (might) wear off. Good answer. This was almost two months ago, and still haze. I've tried No Touch, changed the driver's wiper (have to try the passenger) and used comet, which was recommended by a glass company. Still haze.
