Default Aftermarket Bed Rail Caps

Has anyone installed any aftermarket bed rail caps? I'm talking about the kind you lay on with adhesive backing. I recently purchased a Gaylord's bed lid for my 2002. The lid itself is top quality. The installation was not what I expected. There is a significant gap (1/8"-1/4") between the outside of the bed and the lid seal. I went back to Gaylord's manufacturing facility and they confirmed that I did get the correct lid and proceded to tell me that the gap is not to be unexpected. Give me a break. They won't admit it, but I think the culprit here are the factory installed bed rail caps. I think Gaylord's is selling a bed lid that properly fits a pre-bed rail cap Tundra (i.e., 1999). The factory caps appear to lift the lid approximately 1", thus causing the separation. They just keep selling the same old lid even though the factory bed has changed. I was hoping to find some "thin" aftermarket rail caps that can replace the factory ones.

Thanks

Happy with the quality? About how thick are they? Are they totally permanent or carefully removable? Thanks for the response!!

They are thin, but do the job. One corner cracked but that was because of the lousy install by the people who put on the lid. I am sure you can take them off. They are put on with 3M tape.
