Default Where's the Paint?

I know many other Toyota owners here have mentioned about the thin paint on our trucks. Has anyone here looked under the rocker panels to see if they are missing paint. I have an 04 Tundra with fender flares/mudflaps and nerf bars for added protection. The other day I was cleaning the winter salt off my truck and noticed the paint on the rocker panels is chipped up pretty bad considering I only have 8,500 miles and the protection listed above. It's dissapointing to have a relatively new truck look like it's 5 or more years old. Is anyone else noticing the chipped up paint on their truck especially on the rocker panels and the lower portion of the quarter panels right behind the rear wheels?

I'm curious whether Toyota would see this as a problem and pay to have it repainted?

I can tell you from experience that Toyota has very thin paint as compared to Ford, Chevy, Dodge. We sand paint on trucks everyday. It's really a shame, Toyota's paint should be better.

Did you guys here about Nissan's new paint. It will self correct scratches. If you get a scratch, it will go away in a week or so by itself. Nissan is going to begin using it on SUV's first. The paint has microscopic balls of some kind of liquid. When the balls rupture due to a scratch, the liquid flows and fills in the scratch. Darn it, why didn't I think of that!?!?

I wonder if you will be able to treat it like regular paint. With waxing and compounding and all... hmmm... I guess we'll find out.
