I did this in my 05 double cab so my St.Bernard could ride inside the truck and wouldn't tear up the seat. Just unbolt the hinges from the floorboard and lift it out.Brad.
Brad,
how do you get your behemoth in the truck??? does he just jump in and out??? use a ramp? if using a ramp how do you get it to work correctly since the rear doors don't open 90° to the truck???? I've been looking for ways to mod the truck to allow the use of a ramp for my 115lb Greater Swiss Mtn Dog.

I use this
Prairie View Industries® Large PVI Folding Aluminum Pet Ramp
I have a black lab & a yellow lab-she has a bad knee and cannot get in without a ramp. This ramp is long enough so its not to steep to get in. door opens enough for them to scramble up the ramp. Ramp is able to fit across behind the front seats. most time it goes in the back though.
I also use this Reversible DLX Pet Travel Hammock - slate or sand - Free Ship without it they would get up front when we left the vehicle protects the seat well also.
hope this helps.
rambrush I use the SAME ramp....not sure if its a "Prairie view" but looks identical....the problem or inconvenience I have is that you have to put the ramp at an angle to the door (ie not 90°/perpendicular to the door opening)....thus you do not get the entire length of the ramp lip to sit on the doorsill....if you do put it perpendicular to the doorsill the door actually intrudes onto a portion of the ramp and the dog can NOT have unobstructed access.....I'll take pics tonight when I get home but this is why I have been searching far and wide for the possibility of
1)an aftermarket or special order door hinge that would allow at least one rear door to open >90° to the truck and allow unobstructed access
2) the radical and most expensive option of turning one of the rear doors into a suicide door like the TITAN that opens rearward and against the truck body.

Yes u r correct, I put mine up on the edge of seat. not on door sill.
Makes it steeper but mine handle it well. We have traveled up to Montana and back and all over and they love it.
I wish the door opened out further but so far its doing ok.

just went and measured it, 7' is correct looks identical to yours.
heres a couple of pics when we were up in Montana on our property there.
It shows the ramp not to steep and they go up it great.
Your pic reflected the problem I originally had door in the way.
