Interior & ExteriorDiscussions about the interior, and exterior of your vehicle.
This is a discussion thread titled "US Speedo stainless steel gauges pics??", within the Interior & Exterior forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
does anyone have pictures of the US Speedo stainless steel gauges for an 00-04 Tundra? preferably high quality day and night pics...i've seen the pics on the website...but they are just day time but they are very close up..
I have the gauges, and I'm not to pleased, first: when I recieved the gauge faces they were not taped down to the back board and had slid against each other causing some minor scratches, second I have a 04' Tundra and they perferate the window area where the idiot lights are, the odometer and the shift gauge, the first problem with this is on the 04's the "check engine light" is covered, the perferation does not extend far enough to the left so it can be seen, second: during day light hours their is not a lot of contrast between the gauge face and the numbers underneath (white on silver), Third: trying to read the odometer and the shift gauge is very difficult during the day with out back lighting and even then its poor at best, your trying to read through the perforation.
I contacted the mfg and they were suppose to retool to fix the "check engine light" issue, but after 4 months of next weeks, I finally recieved my money back.
What could they do better? out line around all the numbers for better day time contrast, Perferation on the windows is great idea but it needs strong enough back lighting to make up for the light loss through the perforation, and last but not least a great gauge face isnt any good if it ends up damaged in shipping, they have to make sure its packaged well.
I only have a distant shot of the gauges during the day I will see if I can load it into my pictures.
Best regards, Kent

that is disappointing..i have an '04 as well..so i won't be getting these..
Nu image makes them now..but for 05-06 tundra and tacomas only..they look really nice..i attached pics of the tundra and tacoma ones..
my dream was to get the sequoia gauges for the 05 and up limited and swap them into the tundra cuz they have the lexus white and they look amazing..but i did some research and there would have been a mess of rewiring and really expensive. if someone has the money i to do this i would really recommend it if it was at all possible.
its too bad lextech won't do custom work cuz that would be sick to get lexus colors in our gauge cluster.
Great info. I was also very interested in these stainless guages but now that we have this info I won't be buying them.

Good grief at all the jive you have to fill out just to post a simple message
It is not that Lextech won't do custom work, because that's all Lextech does. It's that there is no "test vehicle" where voltage readings can be taken from. You have to know what the voltage is at each bulb, which side of the bulb contact is + and - as well as readings with the headlights on and off, dimmer all the way up and all the way down.
Basically a nice voltage map of everywhere to stick power to where something will be replaced.
If someone is near Chattanooga, TN and want's to volunteer for a probe vehicle I can't promise anything but it would be a nice start. Several other factors determine success. The internal design plays a big role.
